The no. 5 ranked UCLA Women's Golf Team was cool under pressure today at the Auburn University Golf Club, as they locked down seventh place and clinched qualification for the 2013 NCAA Championship.

With their backs against the wall, the Bruins shot 289 (+1), the 5th best score of the round. That gave UCLA a three-day total of 875(+11), pushing them two strokes ahead of hosts Auburn in 8th and five strokes ahead of Tennessee, who fell back to 9th. It would be a nervy day for plenty of teams, as Northwestern came through in the clutch to shoot 284(-4) and leapfrog several teams into 6th.

Senior Tiffany Lua stepped up under pressure, leading her team with a 69(-3) and moving up into 18th individually. Sophomore Erynne Lee backed up her teammate, carding a 72(E) for the Bruins while junior Ani Gulugian and freshman Louise Ridderstrom notched a 74(+2) each. Lee Lopez rounded out the scoring with a 76(+4).

#2 Alabama would emerge on top, finishing at 844(-20) to win the regional by 8 strokes. Other teams qualifying include #20 Tulane, in 2nd, #5 Arkansas and #17 Oklahoma State tied for 3rd, and #23 Texas.

The NCAA Championship will begin on Tuesday, May 21st, in Athens, GA. The Bruins, who played the course once before at the Fall Preview, will be looking to win their second title in three years.
