The 12th-ranked Bruins venture to Northern California for their second tournament of the season, playing at the Stanford Intercollegiate, which begins on Sunday and runs through Tuesday.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament, which is hosted by Dr. Condoleezza Rice, will be held at the Stanford Golf Course, a par-71, 6,130-yard layout.
The Bruins are sending junior and defending individual medalist Bronte Law, sophomores Erin Choi and Lydia Choi and freshmen Lilia Vu and Bethany Wu. Senior Louise Ridderström will play as an individual.
The UCLA scoring fivesome will begin play on Sunday at 8:30 a.m., paired with Oregon and UC Davis, in the order of Lydia Choi, Vu, Erin Choi, Law and Wu. Ridderström tees off from #1 at 10:09 a.m.
UCLA began the fall portion of its 2015-2016 season at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate (Sept. 27-29) in Orlando, Fla. and finished sixth (-2, 862). Wu was the top scorer for the Bruins with a 4-under 212 (69-74-69), which put her in 12th place. Vu tied for 19th (-1, 215), Law tied for 25th (E, 216), Lydia Choi tied for 40th (+5, 221) and Ridderström finished 56th (+17, 233). Erin Choi will be making her season debut this weekend.
UCLA has appeared in every Stanford Intercollegiate (began in 1995, not held in 2010), winning the event three times (1995, 2008, 2011). Last season, the Bruins finished third (-14, 838, one shot back) and Law was the individual medalist at -8 (65-71-69-205), besting Ridderström (-6, 71-66-70-207) by a pair of strokes. Erin Choi (+2, 215, T-29) and Lydia Choi (+7, 220, T-51) also competed in last year's tournament. Law's victory was the second in a row for the Bruins after Alison Lee (-7, 206) captured the 2013 Stanford Intercollegiate.
The Bruins are one of 13 ranked teams in the field, which includes #1 USC, #3 Georgia, #4 Northwestern, #6 Arizona, #9 Stanford, #13 Arizona State, #15 Iowa State, #21 Washington, #22 Vanderbilt, #28 Oregon, #35 Auburn and #43 California. Rounding out the 17-team field are Pepperdine, San Jose State, UC Davis and Washington State.
