Garrick Four Back After Two Rounds

ALPHARETTA, Ga. - Senior Jonathan Garrick shot a 4-under 68 on Saturday during round two of the U.S. Collegiate Championship at the Golf Club of Georgia Lakeside Course to sit in a tie for fifth following 36 holes.

As a team, the Bruins are in 15th place (+17, 593).

Garrick (-4, 140) was bogey free on Saturday, making birdies on #5, #12, #14 and #18 to improve 20 positions in the standings after the first round and put him four shots behind the lead. It was Garrick's sixth round under par this season in eight trips, tying for his season best (68 at Erin Hills, round 1).

Freshman Patrick Murphy improved five strokes on Saturday with a 1-over 73 (+7, 151), placing him in a tie for 64th. He made birdies on the eighth and 14th. 

Senior Jake Knapp had four birdies in his second round (#5, #13, #14, #16), but shot a 3-over 75. He is tied for 71st after 36 holes (+8, 152), as is sophomore Brandon Mai, who fired a 5-over 77 with one birdie on the fifth. Freshman Cole Madey is tied for 74th (+9, 153), making birdies on the first and 14th.

The Bruins begin their final round on Sunday at 5 a.m. PT on the first tee, paired with Oklahoma State and Kent State, starting with Madey and followed by Mai, Knapp, Murphy and Garrick.
