Bruins Head to Trojan Diving Invite
November 11, 2015 | Swimming & Diving
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- UCLA diving is back in action this weekend with a trip across town to USC for the Trojan Diving Invitational at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center. The meet begins on Friday with the 3-Meter, continues on Saturday with the 1-Meter, and concludes on Sunday with the Platform.
"This meet is a lot closer to what we'll see at the end of the year," said UCLA head diving coach Tom Stebbins of the Invitational. "This will be our first run at having a three-day meet where it's just one event per day. They have to excel not only through a prelim, but through a final."
Bruin veterans Annika Lenz, Maria Polyakova, Montana Monahan, and Ciara Monahan will be joined by newcomers Kat Friese, Madeline Russell, and Traci Shiver for the 3-Meter and 1-Meter events. Wrapping things up on Sunday, six Bruins will compete in the Platform event.
"I think we have some composure things we have to work on, but that's a season-long process," said Stebbins of the squad's readiness. "I think that we can be better in terms of our overall mechanical discipline."
Each day of competition starts at 11 a.m. Other schools competing during the first two days are Azusa Pacific, Cal Baptist, Michigan, San Jose State and USC. All but Azusa Pacific and Cal Baptist will compete on Sunday.
