
Polyakova Wins 3-Meter Event at USC

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – UCLA's Maria Polyakova topped the competition on day one of the Trojan Diving Invitational when she placed first in the 3-Meter event on Friday. The Bruin posted the top mark of 580.10, 39 points ahead of second-place Madison Witt of USC.
Ciara Monahan and Annika Lenz also made the top four. Monahan finished third with a 538.90, while Lenz tallied a 529.90 to place fourth.
Of the three Bruin freshmen competing on Friday, Madeline Russell was the only newcomer to advance to the finals. After posting a 219.45 in prelims Friday morning, Russell recorded a final score of 451.70. Russell placed just out of the top 10, in 11th.
In the 3-Meter event, UCLA and USC tied for most top-10 finishes, with four each.
Springboard action continues tomorrow with the 1-Meter event. Competition begins at 11 a.m. at USC's Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
