Madey, Garrick in the Hunt at Gifford

CARLSBAD, Calif. - Freshman Cole Madey and senior Jonathan Garrick are each in the Top 10 after two rounds of the Gifford Collegiate at the La Costa Legends Course.
The Bruins shot a 4-over 288 on Tuesday as a team and are +7 (575) through 36 holes.
Madey, who was in first place after round one, dropped into a tie for fifth with a 2-over 73 on Tuesday. He made four birdies on the first, fifth, 14th and 17th along with four bogeys and a double. Madey is 2-under (140) through two rounds and three shots back of the lead.
Garrick fired a 1-under 70 in round two with birdies on the fourth, seventh and eighth and a pair of bogeys. He is four back of the lead, tied for ninth at -1 (141).
Senior Jake Knapp was also 1-under (70) on Tuesday with five birdies (#1, #7, #12, #13 and #17), coupled with four bogeys. Knapp is tied for 18th at +2 (144).
Sophomore Corey Shaun had a 4-over 75 for the second straight day and is tied for 52nd (+8, 150). He made birdies on the second, fourth and eighth, also making five bogeys and a double. Freshman Patrick Murphy was +10 (81) on Tuesday after making two birdies, seven bogeys, a double and a triple, putting him 79th (+17, 159).
Playing as individuals, freshman Phil Delisi had a 1-over 72 and is tied for 60th (+10, 152), while sophomore Brandon Mai shot +7 (78) and is tied for 73rd (+11, 153). Delisi birdied four holes on the third, fourth, sixth and seventh with five bogeys. Mai had birdies on the fifth, seventh and 12th with six bogeys and two doubles.
The Bruins start their final round on the first tee at 8:55 a.m. in the order of Murphy, Shaun, Knapp, Garrick and Madey. Delisi and Mai are paired together and go off the 10th at 10:16 a.m.
