LOS ANGELES, Calif. – UCLA swimming and diving will be back in action this weekend when the team heads to Arizona to compete against Pac-12 foes Arizona and Arizona State. First up, the No. 19 Bruins take on the No. 20 Wildcats on Friday at 1:00 p.m. PST at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center in Tucson, Ariz.
UCLA swimming is fresh off a tri-meet win against UCSB and Oregon State. Wearing pink caps in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, the Bruins beat the Gauchos 132-113, while dominating the Beavers 175-82.
Both Madison White and Caroline McTaggart posted double wins at that event. White, a UCLA junior, swam the top mark in the 200 Fly (2:01.48) and the 200 Back (1:58.95). Bruin newcomer McTaggart won the 100 Free (50.97) and the 200 Free (1:49.93).
UCLA swept the 200 Free, as Linnea Mack and Michaela Merlihan finished second and third, respectively, behind their freshman teammate.
Last time out for diving, Maria Polyakova posted the top mark in both diving events at the season-opening SMU Classic, earning her the meet's High Point Diver honor.
The Wildcats are coming off definitive wins in their season opener, defeating UNLV, 198-94 and WSU, 182-98.
Next up, the Bruins head to Tempe to take on the Sun Devils on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. PST at Mona Plummer Aquatic Complex. The Sun Devils are coming off of a 181-117 win over UNLV and a 115-90 loss to Washington State.
