Lenz To Compete at Winter Nationals
December 14, 2015 | Swimming & Diving
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- UCLA diver Annika Lenz will compete in the 3-meter and platform events at the 2015 USA Diving Winter National Championships, to be held Dec. 15-20, at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis.
Lenz has made a strong showing on the boards this fall, qualifying for NCAA Zones in all three events. Last time out, Lenz posted a 298.15 in the 3-meter event at the Jean K. Freeman Invitational in Minnesota to qualify for Zones. At the Trojan Diving Invitational in November, Lenz surpassed the mark on the tower (225) with a 252.70 in platform prelims. She also qualified for Zones in the 1-meter at USC with a 273.35 in the finals.
Competition will be conducted in individual and synchronized 3-meter and 10-meter events for both men and women. The championships also will be used to select the U.S. roster for February's FINA World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, which will be the final opportunity for countries to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games. Additionally, the Winter Nationals will be a chance for divers to qualify for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for diving, to be held June 18-26 in Indianapolis.
The UCLA junior has already qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the platform and 3-meter synchronized events.
Results will be available on divemeets.com as well as www.USADiving.org.
