
UCLA Opens Strong in NCAA Regional Play

No. 14 Tennessee took the first day lead with a 12-under par 276. No. 21 Baylor finished the day with an eight-under par 280, two strokes behind the Bruins.
UCLA hit 13 birdies on the front nine and 12 on the back nine, ranking second in total birdies with 25. Senior Erynne Lee and junior Louise Ridderstrom led the team and was second in the field with six birdies apiece. Sophomore Bronte Law, who had the second-most pars with 14 and also totaled four birdies, finished the day tied for third with a 68 (-4), one stroke behind leaders Yupaporn Kawinpakorn (Kansas) and Hayley Davis (Baylor). Ridderstrom and Lee each finished the first round tied for seventh place with a 69 (-3), two strokes behind the leaders. Lydia Choi hit a par 72 and is tied for 33rd, while Erin Choi shot a 75 (+3) and stands in 56th place.
Round two resumes tomorrow, with the Bruins teeing off with Tennessee and Baylor at hole 1 at 9:09am CT/7:09am PT.
