#7 UCLA Finishes Weekend in Third

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - Senior Jonathan Garrick and freshman Patrick Murphy each posted Top 10 finishes in the Bruins' season-opening tournament at Rich Harvest Farms, as #7 UCLA finished third as a team at The Northern Intercollegiate.
The Bruins posted a three-round score of 886 (+22), finishing behind top-ranked Illinois (-7) and Purdue (+20).
UCLA completed its second round Sunday morning after it was suspended due to darkness Saturday evening. The Bruins were in a tie for third after 36 holes at +11. Murphy was tied for third overall at -2 after a second-round 74 (+2), while Garrick was T-13 (+3) after a 1-under 71.
Freshman Phil Delisi fired a 73 (+1) in round two to rank in a tie for 32nd (+8), senior Jake Knapp shot a 77 (+5) to put him T-22 (+5), while freshman Cole Madey also posted a 77 (+5) to place him T-35 (+9) through 36 holes. Sophomores Corey Shaun (75, +9, T-35 through two rounds) and Brandon Mai (78, +12, T-51) were playing as individuals.
Garrick shot a second consecutive 1-under 71 in the third round to complete the weekend in a tie for sixth at +2 (218). Murphy finished at +3 (219) for the tournament, tied for ninth, after shooting a 77 on Sunday.
Knapp tied for 18th (224, +8) on the weekend with a 75 in round three, Delisi placed T-34 (228, +12) in his first collegiate event after a 76 and Madey was T-45 (231, +15) with a 78 in the final round. Shaun also tied for 45th (231, +15, 78 in round three), while Mai tied for 53rd (233, +17, 77).
The Bruins travel back to the midwest for their next tournament, Oct. 4-6 at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate in Erin, Wis.
