The Bruins didn't trail by more than one on a pair of occasions in the opening set to win the first comfortably thanks to Anderson. UCLA scored the first three points of the match on kills by Lawless, Felix and Anderson, but the Eagles came back with seven of the next 10 to go up 7-6. American also led 8-7, but an Eagle attack error and an ace by junior Jennie Frager put the Bruins back up 9-8, as UCLA didn't trail for the rest of the set.
At 16-15, a 6-1 Bruin run put them up by a set-best six. A Felix kill, an ace by senior Rachel Inouye and an AU attack error made it 19-15. After a sideout, an Anderson kill, a combo block by Felix and Muno and a Buechler ace put UCLA up 22-16. The teams sided out the next six points, as Anderson's ninth kill of the first closed out the 25-19 victory. Buechler added three kills, while Formico and Muno added five digs. The Bruins, who added three aces, out-hit the Eagles .317 to .194.
The Bruins dropped the first point of set two, but scored the next two and didn't trail for the rest of the set. At 12-10, UCLA scored six straight thanks to the play of Anderson and Felix. The run began with an Eagle attack error, which was followed by an Anderson/Felix block, a Felix solo stuff, an Anderson kill, another Anderson/Felix roof and an Anderson solo to make it 18-10.
After a sideout, a Muno kill and an AU error put the Bruins up by a set-best nine at 20-11. The Eagles would get to within five, but a kill by Buechler completed the 25-19 victory. Anderson, Frager and Lawless each posted three kills, Buechler added seven digs and Formico recorded five digs. The Bruins out-hit the Eagles .122 to .049.
The Bruins never trailed in the third to finish off the sweep. UCLA scored the first four on three American errors and a Buechler kill, and after a sideout, kills by Felix and Muno made it 6-1. At 11-8, a 4-1 run on two kills each by Buechler and Felix increased the advantage to 15-9.
With the Bruins still up 17-12, another 4-1 run on two Lawless kills, a Buechler kill and an AU attack error raised UCLA's edge to a set-best eight at 21-13. The Eagles scored four straight to cut their deficit to four at 21-17, but the Bruins yet again made a 4-1 run and won the third 25-18. At 22-18, kills by Buechler and Felix gave the Bruins six match points, and an AU attack error finished up the seven-point win. Buechler paced the Bruins with six kills, while Felix added five with no errors in eight swings. The Bruins out-hit the Eagles .289 to .167.
