December 16, 2016 | Swimming & Diving

Honolulu, Hawaii – The UCLA women's swimming and diving teams are back in action this week when they face the University of Hawaii.  Action begins at 12 pm HST/2 pm PST at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex in Honolulu.
Last time out, the Bruins made a successful showing at the Texas Invitational.  Senior Linnea Mack broke her own school record in the 50 Free (21.93), while freshman Kenisha Liu set a new freshman record in the 200 IM (1:58.09).  Throughout the four-day event, the Bruins tallied 10 appearances in championship finals, which included six top-five finishes.  Mack led the squad with her second-place finish in the 50 Free.

On the boards, the Bruins divers dominated the UGA Fall Invitational.  Three Bruins placed in the top six in the 3-meter event, led by sophomore Eloise Belanger with a first-place finish.  In the 1-meter event, junior Maria Polyakova recorded the top mark in her first outing of the season.  Also in the top five, Belanger checked in at third, followed by junior Ciara Monahan in fourth.  The Bruins completed the sweep at the UGA Fall Invite when senior Annika Lenz and Belanger went 1-2 in the platform final.

This will be the second time the Bruins and the Rainbow Wahine have met this season, as they both competed at the A3 Performance Invitational Nov. 17-19.

Sunday's meet will be UCLA's final competition of 2016.  The Bruins return to action in the New Year when they host Kansas and Boise State Jan. 6 at 12 pm PT.  Closing out the 2016-17 home campaign the following weekend, the swim team welcomes Utah Jan. 13 while the diving team hosts the Bruin Diving Invitational Jan. 13-15.
