
Bruins T-10 After Day One in NOLA

NEW ORLEANS – The fourth-ranked Bruins struggled to an opening-round 298 (+10) on day one of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at English Turn Golf and Country Club on Sunday. As a team, UCLA is tied for 10th.
A pair of Bruin freshmen shot even-par 72. Lilia Vu made three birdies on the sixth, ninth and 11th to go with three bogeys, while Bethany Wu had birdies on the second and fourth to go with a pair of bogeys. Both players are tied for 14th.
Senior Louise Ridderström is tied for 51st following a 4-over 76, making birdies on the second, 10th and 16th, with three bogeys and two doubles. Junior Bronte Law shot a 6-over (78) and is tied for 68th. She birdied the sixth, ninth and 13th, adding four bogeys, a double and a triple bogey. Sophomore Lydia Choi had a non-scoring 81 (+9) and is tied for 77th after making nine bogeys. Sophomore Erin Choi, playing as an individual, also shot a +9 (81) with seven bogeys and a double.
Round two on Monday will be moved up to 8 a.m. CT/6 a.m. PT due to the threat of inclement weather and will be a shotgun start. The Bruin fivesome will go off in the order of Vu, Wu, Law, Ridderström and Lydia Choi on holes 10 through 12. Erin Choi begins on the 18th. Live scoring can be found here.
