ATHENS, Ga. - The third-ranked Bruins travel to the Peach State for a weekend at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. The tournament runs from Friday through Sunday at the University of Georgia Golf Course's par-72, 6,307-yard layout. Live scoring will be available here.
The format of the LMCC will feature one qualifying round of stroke play on Friday to determine the seeds for Saturday and Sunday's match play. The top eight teams following stroke play will be placed in the Red Bracket, while the remaining squads will compete in the Black Bracket.
With expected poor weather on Friday, the opening round will be a shotgun start at 5:30 a.m. PT. Senior Louise Ridderström will start on the seventh hole, freshmen Lilia Vu and Bethany Wu open on the eighth and sophomore Lydia Choi and junior Hadas Libman begin on the ninth hole. The Bruins will be without junior Bronte Law, the top-ranked player in the Golfweek rankings, as she plays in this weekend's LPGA ANA Inspiration, the first major of the 2016 season.
The 12-team field consists of #1 Duke, #2 USC, #4 Northwestern, #5 Alabama, #6 Georgia, #7 Arkansas, #14 Kent State, #41 Purdue, #58 Oregon State, #65 Auburn and #84 Denver.
The Bruins are coming off a third-place finish at the SDSU March Mayhem at The Farms match-play tournament on March 21-23. UCLA beat Delaware (4-0-1) and #17 San Diego State (4-1), tied #11 Arizona (2-2-1, lost in tiebreak) and defeated #9 Stanford (4-1) in the third-place match.
Ridderström and Wu each went 4-0 at The Farms, Vu went 3-0-1 and Libman recorded a 0-3-1 mark. Choi had experience with match play last summer when she made the third round of the U.S. Women's Amateur.
