
Bruins Second After Day One in Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. - Through 18 holes of the NCAA Championships at the Eugene Country Club, the Bruins are in second place after an opening-round, 2-under 286 on Friday. UCLA sits two strokes back of Oklahoma State (-4, 284).
Senior Louise Ridderström is tied for third at 3-under following an opening-round 69. Starting on the 10th, the senior birdied the 11th and 12th before dropping her first shot on #18. On her second nine, Ridderström gained strokes on #2, #4 and #7, with a bogey on the fifth, to post her 69.
Junior Bronte Law is two shots behind Ridderström at 1-under (71) and is tied for 19th. After a bogey on the 14th, she made back-to-back birdies on #17 and #18 on her first nine to make the turn in red numbers. Law added birdies on #5 and #6 and bogeys on #3 and #7 for her 71.
Freshmen Lilia Vu and Bethany Wu are each tied for 39th after dueling 1-over 73's. Vu had three birdies on the 16th, 17th and fifth to go with four bogeys. Wu birdied her first hole, the 10th, and added another on the fifth, making three bogeys. Junior Hadas Libman posted a non-team scoring 6-over (78, T-111). Her lone birdie was on the 17th, as she had four bogeys and a triple.
Round two for the Bruins starts on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. off the first tee in the order of Libman, Wu, Vu, Law and Ridderström. Live scoring will be available here.
