
Bruins Win Stroke-Play Title at NCAAs

EUGENE, Ore. - The UCLA women's golf team won the stroke-play portion of the NCAA Championships, closing the four-day event with an 8-under (1,144) total to earn the top seed in match play, which gets underway on Tuesday morning at Eugene Country Club.
The Bruins, who shot a 6-under 282 on Monday, will face #8-seed Oregon, starting at 7:50 a.m. off the first tee. The matchups for the quarterfinals will be:
7:50 a.m. - Bethany Wu vs. Petra Salko
8:00 a.m. - Louise Ridderström vs. Kathleen Scavo
8:10 a.m. - Hadas Libman vs. Marcella Pranovia
8:20 a.m. - Lilia Vu vs. Caroline Inglis
8:30 a.m. - Bronte Law vs. Cathleen Santoso
Three Bruins finished inside the Top 11 in stroke play, as Vu tied for sixth (-5, 283), Law placed ninth (-4, 284) and Ridderström tied for 11th (-1, 287). Wu tied for 27th (+2, 290), while Libman tied for 79th (+21, 309).
Vu had the low round of the day for the Bruins at 5-under 67, posting a bogey-free round. She made birdies on #5, #7 and #8 on the front, then after seven pars to start her second nine, closed with back-to-back birdies to tie for her season-best total.
Wu was also under par on Monday with a 1-under 71. She recorded six birdies on the first, seventh, eighth, 10th, 12th and 16th to go with two bogeys and a triple.
Law and Ridderström were each even par (72) in their final round. Law had four birdies on the fourth, sixth, 11th and 12th, balancing her books with four bogeys. Ridderström matched her five bogeys with birdies on #3, #5, #7, #12 and #17. Libman shot a non-team scoring 4-over (76). She had a couple of birdies on the back nine on #12 and #14 to go with six bogeys.
Live scoring for the match-play quarterfinals will be available here. The winner of the UCLA-Oregon matchup will face the winner of the Washington-Virginia contest in the match-play semifinals on Tuesday afternoon at 2:20 p.m.
