
Law Leads, UCLA 2nd at Bryan Regional

BRYAN, Texas - The top-ranked Bruins are second, one shot back, at the Bryan NCAA Regional after 36 holes, while junior Bronte Law holds the individual lead by one shot heading into Saturday's final round.
As a team, UCLA shot a 9-under 279 at The Traditions Golf Club on Friday and has a two-round score of 8-under 568, one stroke behind Arizona. The top six teams after Saturday's play advance to the NCAA Championships (May 20-25) in Eugene, Ore., as UCLA is 14 shots ahead of seventh-place TCU.
Law shot her best-ever round in Regional play with a 6-under 66 to put her at 9-under 135 following 36 holes, one shot ahead of Gonzaga's Bianca Pagdanganan. Law, who was bogey free on Thursday, dropped her first shot of the Regional with a bogey on the fifth. She would rebound in a big way by making seven birdies in her final 11 holes. Law birdied each of the next two par-5's, the eighth and the 10th, and then gained strokes on three-straight holes on #12, #13 and #14. The junior closed out her afternoon with birdies on the 17th and 18th to give her 10-straight, under-par rounds in which she is a combined 34-under.
Freshman Lilia Vu remained in the Top 10 and is tied for ninth at 3-under 141 after a second-round 71 (-1). She made eight-straight pars to open her round before a bogey on the ninth. After seven pars in a row to start her second nine, Vu came home with back-to-back birdies to post her fifth-straight, under-par round.
Freshman Bethany Wu shot a 2-under 70 to jump up into a tie for 32nd at +2 (146). She made birdies on the fourth, ninth, 10th and 13th to go with a pair of bogeys. Wu is tied with senior Louise Ridderström, who had an even-par 72 on Friday. She birdied the sixth, 13th and 15th to go with three bogeys. Junior Hadas Libman shot a non-team scoring 84 (+12) and is 90th at +20 (164). Her lone birdie came on the 12th, as she also had nine bogeys and two doubles.
In search of their ninth Regional win and their school-record, 16th-consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships, the final round for the Bruins will get underway at 9:50 a.m. CT/7:50 a.m. PT in the order of Libman, Ridderström, Wu, Vu and Law. Live scoring will be available here.
