OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Senior Mysha Sataraka has been added to the USA Softball Elite Team, as announced by ASA/USA Softball. Sataraka is the fourth UCLA player to be named to the Elite Team, joining senior Allexis Bennett, sophomore Madeline Jelenicki and incoming freshman Madilyn Nickles. Two Bruin alums are on the coaching staff, head coach Tairia Flowers and assistant coach Gina Vecchione.
UCLA has plenty of representation this summer with Team USA. Junior Delaney Spaulding, freshman Paige Halstead and alum Ally Carda will play this summer on the USA Women's National Team squad. Both the WNT and Elite Teams began a five-day training camp in Oklahoma City on Sunday.
Both teams will participate in the World Cup of Softball in OKC (July 5-10). The USA Women's National Team will also take part in a few international competitions in Japan (USA vs. Japan All-Star Series - June 20-26), Canada (WBSC Women's World Championship - July 15-24) and Japan again (Japan Cup - Aug. 24-Sept. 5). This is not the first appearance on Team USA for Sataraka, who just completed her four-year career at UCLA with a seven-RBI performance at the Women's College World Series earlier this month. She earned a silver medal with the USA Junior Women's National Team at the 2013 ISF Junior Women's World Championships. Sataraka started all nine games and hit .455 (10-for-22) with a team-best three homers and 16 RBI to go with four doubles and eight runs.
