Bruins Spend Weekend in Hawai'i

WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i. – The Bruins travel to the Big Island for this weekend's Amer Ari Invitational. The 54-hole tournament runs from Thursday through Saturday on the par-72, 7,074-yard layout at the Waikoloa Kings' Course.
The scoring fivesome for the Bruins will be juniors Tyler Collier and Corey Shaun, sophomores Matt Hutchins and Cole Madey and freshman Hidetoshi Yoshihara. Live scoring will be available here.
Joining the Bruins and host Hawaii Hilo in the 21-team field are #4 Oklahoma State, #6 Stanford, #7 USC, #8 Auburn, #11 Texas, #17 Texas Tech, #22 Oregon, #26 Georgia Tech, #29 Arizona State, #31 Colorado, Hawai'i, Oregon State, Pacific, Saint Mary's, San Jose State, TCU, UC Davis, Division II Chico State and Osaka Gakuin of Japan (Golfweek rankings as of Jan. 31).
Collier leads the Bruins in scoring average at 71.9 and is coming off a T-12 finish at last week's Arizona Intercollegiate (Jan. 23-24). He completed his final two rounds in 1-over, posting an overall score of +5 (218). It was his third Top 20 of the season, as Collier opened with a T-5 at the Marquette Intercollegiate (-1, 209, Oct. 2-3) and a T-15 at the Gifford Collegiate (-2, 142, Nov. 7).
Yoshihara is second on the squad with a 72.3 scoring average. His season-best finish came at the Gifford when he tied for sixth thanks to a second-round, 6-under 66. Yoshihara has also tied for 22nd at the Marquette (+4, 214) and tied for 37th at the Arizona (+13, 226). All eight of Yoshihara's rounds have counted towards the overall team score.
Madey is just behind Yoshihara in scoring average at 72.4. He has three finishes in the Top 20, including a T-12 at the Arizona (+5, 218). Madey added a T-10 at the Marquette (+1, 211) thanks to a pair of 69s, as well as a T-18 at the Gifford. In addition to Collier, all 11 of Madey's rounds this season have counted towards the team score. He tied for 13th (-5, 211) at last year's Amer Ari.
Hutchins holds a scoring average of 73.5 after competing in the Arizona Medalist Intercollegiate (Jan. 22-23) last week. He shot a 6-over 219, including a 1-under 70 in the second round, to finish fifth. Hutchins also tied for third at the Marquette (-2, 208), where he also played as an individual, recording a pair of 69s to end that tournament.
Shaun, who has returned to the team this winter, will be playing in his second tournament in a row and is coming off his career-best round. He shot a 4-under 67 in the final round of the Arizona Intercollegiate, finishing in a tie for 37th (+13, 226). Shaun tied for 10th at last year's Amer Ari (-6, 210).
The Bruins are coming off a seventh-place finish at the Arizona (+33, 885). They have a trio of third-place showings at the Marquette, the Cypress Point Classic (non-stroke play) and the Gifford. UCLA has won the Amer Ari Invitational twice in 2004 and 2013. The Bruins finished second by two shots last season (-27, 837) at Waikoloa.
