Emma Schanz Named UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of Week

Junior Emma Schanz of the UCLA women's swimming and diving team has been named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 23-Oct. 29.

In the annual Pink Meet on Saturday at Spieker Aquatics Center, Schanz won both the 100-yard backstroke (55.39) and the 200 IM (2:03.17), while also being a member of the winning 200 medley relay team (1:42.56). She also picked up a second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.15).

Her performance helped the Bruins defeat Arkansas (162.5-131.5), Washington State (152-104) and UC Davis (207-87) in the third-annual Pink Meet, which donates to women's health in the name of breast cancer awareness.

This is Schanz's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week of the season and of her career.
