
Bruins Reach Three A Finals at Texas Invite

AUSTIN, Texas – Katie Grover registered the top finish on Day 3 of the Texas Invitational, taking fourth in the A Final of the 100 Fly with a time of 52.10. She also finished tied for sixth in the 200 Free A Final (1:45.90). One day after rewriting the school record books in the 200 IM, Emma Schanz reached another A Final in the 100 Back.
Lisa Kaunitz was the lone Bruin to advance into the 400 IM final round and she made the most of it when she got there. After qualifying with a time of 4:21.22, the sophomore checked in at 4:20.40 to finish fifth in the B Final.
Bruins were scattered around each of the 100 Fly finals, with Grover finishing fourth in a tight A Final. Amy Okada, meanwhile, took sixth in the B Final with a time of 53.76. Kenisha Liu improved on her preliminary time, clocking in at 53.97 for a second-place spot in the C Final. Isabella Goldsmith also earned a bid into the C Final, while Marie-Pierre Delisle took sixth in the D Final.
Grover also impressed the next time out with her sixth-place finish in the 200 Free. Liu (1:47.77) and Sandra Soe (1:48.41) checked in fifth and sixth, respectively, in the B Final. Carly Reid took a spot in the D Final, where she turned in a fourth-place performance.
For the second time on the day, Lisa Kaunitz took fifth in a B Final when she registered a 1:02.17 time in the 100 Breast. Goldsmith finished two spots back of her fellow sophomore. Okada picked up a win in the C Final, touching the wall at 1:02.88.
Schanz's second A Final in as many days was made possible by a 53.81 in the preliminary round of the 100 Back. Delisle reached the C Final, while freshman Lucy Agnew made the D Final.
The Bruin "A" quartet of Schanz, Sarah Kaunitz, Grover and Liu clocked in at 1:41.05 to take ninth in the 200 Medley Relay.
Action at the Texas Invitational will conclude with Day 4 Saturday. Following the preliminary rounds of the 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly and 1650 Free, qualifiers will return in the evening for the finals. The 400 Free Relay will wrap up the women's events.
