LOS ANGELES - Senior Reily Buechler had a match-best 13 kills to go with 10 digs, adding a career-high seven aces, as the 15th-seeded Bruins swept Austin Peay on Friday in the First Round of the NCAA Championship at Pauley Pavilion. Set scores were 25-10, 25-13, 25-15.

The Bruins (20-10) advance to the Second Round on Saturday where they will face Cal Poly at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Pauley Pavilion ticket office, with a live video stream also available at UCLABruins.com. Austin Peay concludes its season at 30-6.

Senior Sarah Sponcil also had a double-double with 28 assists and 18 digs, setting the Bruins to a .324 hitting percentage. Freshman Jenny Mosser posted nine kills and just one error in 20 attempts for a .400 percentage to go with five digs. Junior Kyra Rogers added eight kills, junior Zana Muno had 12 digs, freshman Mac May recorded seven kills and sophomore Madeleine Gates had six kills and three block solos.

The Bruins scored the first eight points of the match on three May kills, two from Buechler, one by Gates and two Austin Peay errors. Leading 10-2, UCLA scored four straight on two Mosser kills, one by Gates and a Buechler ace. At 18-6, the Bruins netted five in a row to get their advantage to a set-best 17, as Buechler had two kills, Mosser and Rogers added one each and Austin Peay made an error. UCLA would win the opener 25-10, as Buechler, Gates and May all had four kills and Mosser added three. Sponcil produced seven digs, as the Bruins out-hit the Governors .438 to .000.

UCLA also led wire-to-wire in set two, jumping out to a 12-2 lead on four Buechler kills, two Gates blocks with one kill, kills by Rogers and May and three Austin Peay errors. The Bruins' lead reached as high as 13 at 21-8 following a Buechler kill. UCLA scored the last three of the second on another Buechler kill and two Governor errors to win it 25-13. Buechler had six of the Bruins' 13 kills in the second, while Sponcil added six digs, as the Bruins hit .258 to Austin Peay's -.103.

UCLA led early in set three 5-2, but Austin Peay would come back to take its first advantage of the match at 10-9 and 11-10. But from that point on, the Bruins scored 15 of the next 19 to win the third by 10. Buechler began a 10-0 run with a kill, which was followed by three consecutive Rogers kills. Buechler then served five aces in a row, with an Austin Peay attack error making it 20-11. The Bruins would lead by as much as 10 on a pair of occasions at 22-12 and then at 25-15, as kills by Mosser and Buechler wrapped up the 10-point victory. Mosser led the Bruins with five kills, Rogers added four and Buechler posted three. Muno recorded eight digs and Sponcil had five. The Bruins out-hit the Governors .282 to .229.
