PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Junior Tyler Collier made six birdies on his closing nine holes on Saturday at The Hayt, as the Bruins tied for the low team score in round two at the Sawgrass Country Club. UCLA shot a 3-under 285 and is 12th (+17, 593) after 36 holes.
Collier vaulted into a tie for 11th after his 5-under 67 on Saturday and is even-par (144) through 36 holes. In shooting 10 strokes fewer in his second round, the junior made seven birdies. After gaining a stroke on #13 and making two bogeys on #15 and #17, Collier birdied holes #1, #2, #4, #5, #7 and #8 to move up 42 spots on the leaderboard.
Freshman Hidetoshi Yoshihara is tied with Collier as the top Bruin at even-par after a second-round 73 (+1). He made three birdies on #14, #18 and #1 to go with four bogeys. Sophomore Cole Madey was the second UCLA player under par in round two, shooting a 2-under 70. He is in a tie for 38th at 5-over (149) after 36 holes. Madey made five birdies on #10, #17, #4, #7 and #9, adding three bogeys.
Sophomore Phil Delisi, playing as an individual, is tied for 67th (+11, 155) after a 4-over 76. He made two birdies on the 14th and first holes to go with six bogeys. Freshman Harrison Mahon is tied for 70th (+12, 156) after a 3-over 75. He had three birdies on the 11th, third and eighth, adding six bogeys. Junior Corey Shaun is tied for 78th (+17, 161) following a 3-over 75. He recorded a pair of birdies on #14 and #9 to go with five bogeys. Sophomore Patrick Murphy is 82nd after an 87 (+15). He made three birdies on #10, #12 and #2, adding five bogeys, five doubles and a triple.
The Bruins will start off the 10th tee for Sunday's final round, beginning at 7:48 a.m. ET/4:48 a.m. PT in the order of Shaun, Mahon, Madey, Yoshihara and Collier. Delisi and Murphy will be paired together and start at 7:39 a.m. ET/4:39 a.m. PT. Live scoring will be available here.
