Bruins in Florida for The Hayt

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The Bruins head to the Sunshine State for The Hayt, which will take place this Friday through Sunday at the Sawgrass Country Club's par-72, 6,976-yard layout.

The scoring fivesome for the Bruins will be juniors Tyler Collier and Corey Shaun, sophomore Cole Madey and freshmen Harrison Mahon and Hidetoshi Yoshihara. Sophomores Phil Delisi and Patrick Murphy will be playing as individuals.

On Friday, the Bruins go off the first tee at 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT in the order of Mahon, Shaun, Yoshihara, Collier and Madey. Delisi (8:39 a.m. ET/5:39 a.m. PT) and Murphy (8:48/5:48) will go off #10 tee. Live scoring will be available here.

Joining the Bruins, ranked 38th in the Golfweek rankings (as of Feb. 20) and host and #35 North Florida at The Hayt are #36 Jacksonville, #39 Liberty, Army, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Furman, Louisville, Navy, North Texas, Tennessee, UAB and UCF.

UCLA is coming off a T-7 finish at the Amer Ari Invitational (Feb. 2-4) in Waikoloa, Hawai'i. The Bruins were under par in all three rounds, shooting 3-under as a team in the first and third rounds and 7-under in the second round. In stroke-play events, the Bruins have finished third at the Marquette Intercollegiate (Oct. 2-3) and the Gifford Collegiate (Nov. 7-9), seventh at the Arizona Intercollegiate (Jan. 23-24) and 14th at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate (Oct. 21-23).

Yoshihara leads the Bruins in scoring average at 71.7 and was the best finisher for UCLA at the Amer Ari. He tied for 22nd with three under-par rounds of 71, 70 and 70 for a 5-under 211. Yoshihara's best finish was a T-6 at the Gifford (-6, 138). He has five under-par rounds, and his best round has been the second, as he is 6-under this season.

Madey is second in scoring average at 72.1. He has three Top 20 showings on the season, including a T-10 at Marquette (+1, 211), a T-12 at Arizona (+5, 218) and a T-18 at the Gifford (-1, 143). Madey has four under-par rounds, and has also had his best success in the middle round, shooting a cumulative 2-under in the second round this season.

Collier is just behind Madey at a 72.2 scoring average. He has three Top 20 finishes, including a T-5 at Marquette (-1, 209), a T-12 at Arizona (+5, 218) and a T-15 at the Gifford (-2, 142). Collier has four under-par rounds and a pair in the 60s, both coming at the Marquette.

In two tournaments since returning to the team, Shaun has a 73.0 scoring average. He had three consecutive under-par rounds (third round of the Arizona, first two rounds of the Amer Ari), combining for 9-under over those 54 holes. Shaun tied for 27th at the Amer Ari (-4, 212) and was T-37 at Arizona (+13, 226).

Mahon is playing in his first tournament as part of the scoring fivesome. His first two tournaments have been as an individual, as he tied for 10th at the Arizona Medalist Intercollegiate (+11, 224) and was 51st at the Gifford Collegiate (+14, 158). He shot an opening-round 68 (-3) at Arizona.

Murphy holds a 74.8 scoring average, having tied for 16th at the Arizona Medalist (+20, 233), tied for 29th at Marquette (+7, 217) and tied for 33rd at the Gifford (+4, 148). His best round of the season was a second-round 69 (-1) at the Marquette.

Delisi has a scoring average of 75.4. He tied for 32nd at Marquette (+9, 219), tied for 45th at the Gifford (+9, 153) and tied for 60th at Arizona (+18, 231).

The Bruins are playing in The Hayt for the seventh time and were the 2006 winners of this tournament.
