UCLA Rallies Past California, 9-4

LOS ANGELES โ Michael Toglia drove in three runs with two extra-base hits, while Kyle Cuellar collected three hits with two RBIs and scored twice as the UCLA baseball team rallied from four runs down for the second-straight game to defeat California, 9-4, and take the series on Saturday from Jackie Robinson Stadium.
The Bruins trailed 4-0 for the second consecutive game to California, but UCLA scored nine unanswered runs to push its win streak to three games.
With the game tied at 4-4, UCLA grabbed its first lead in the seventh inning as Cuellar ripped a RBI-single to score Daniel Amaral for the go-ahead run. Toglia added two more runs in the inning with a triple down the right-field line for a 7-4 advantage.
The Bruins added two more run in the eighth inning as Sean Bouchard tallied his second RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly to right field, followed by Cuellar collecting his third hit of the day to plate Amaral for the final score of 9-4.
With Cal leading by four runs, UCLA cut the deficit in half in the fourth inning. Toglia hit a RBI-double to right field and later Ryan Kreidler brought home Nick Valaika with a sacrifice fly to center field to make the score 4-2.
The Bruins made it a one-run game in the fifth inning as Brett Stephens reached base on a hit by pitch and scored off of Bouchard's first of two sacrifice flies on the day. UCLA knotted the game at 4-4 as Toglia scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning.
UCLA's Ryan Garcia (1-0) earned the win after getting the final two outs of the seventh with one strikeout, while starter Moises Ceja gets the no-decision after tossing 5.0 innings allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits and six strikeouts.
California's Rogelio Reyes (2-2) sufferedย the loss allowing four runs on three hits with three walks in 1.2 innings of work. Cal starter Joey Matulovich threw 5.0 innings allowing three runs with four walks for the no-decision.
The Bruins will play the series finale with the Golden Bears on Sunday at Jackie Robinson Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. (PT). The game will once again be televised on the Pac-12 Network with J.B. Long and Eric Byrnes on the call.
