May Earns Spot on WJNT for U20 Pan Am Cup

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Incoming freshman Mac May was named to the 12-player U.S. Women's Junior National Team (WJNT-U20PAC) roster that will compete in the 2017 U20 Women's Pan American Cup, being held May 8-13 in San Jose, Costa Rica, USA Volleyball announced on Wednesday.
The U20 Women's Pan American Cup serves as a qualification tournament into the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Women's U20 World Championship that takes place July 14-23 in Boca del Rio and Cordoba, Mexico. The top team from NORCECA and the top team from the South American Confederation will earn spots into the biennial world championship.
The U.S. will compete in Group A in the Pan Am Cup, facing Argentina (May 9) and Dominican Republic (May 10) in pool play matches. The quarterfinals will take place on May 11, the semifinals on May 12 and the medal round on May 13.
May competed in the 2016 NORCECA Women's U20 Continental Championship and helped the U.S. to a silver medal. She was named Iowa's Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year in January, as she earned Second Team AVCA/Under Armour All-America as a senior, as well as being named aย PrepVolleyball Senior Ace #10. May led the Golden Eagles in kills every season and was First Team All-Mississippi Valley Conference each year, as well as the league Player of the Year as a senior, when she led the state with 6.8 kills per set.
