No. 2 UCLA Snaps No. 1 USC's 62-Dual Winning Streak

TUCSON, Ariz. -- No. 2 UCLA (29-3) advanced to the 2017 Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Championships finals with a 3-2 win over th#1 USC (32-1) for its first-ever win over the Trojans. It snapped USC's 62-dual winning streak. The Bruins await the winner of No. 7 Washington/No. 1 USC in the title match at 1:00 p.m. today, live on the Pac-12 Network.
The Trojans got the first point of the dual on court one as Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes defeated the UCLA sophomore duo of Megan McNamara and Nicole McNamara in straight sets, 21-11, 21-19. The twins dropped to 26-5 this season, all on court one.
The Bruins tied the dual at 1-1 on court five as the freshman pair of Lily Justine and Savvy Simo defeated Jenna Belton and Jo Kremer in straight sets, 21-17, 21-15. The newly-formed pair improved to 4-2 on the year.
UCLA took a 2-1 lead on court three after junior Elise Zappia and freshman Torrey Van Winden defeated USC's Terese Cannon and Nicolette Martin in straight sets, 21-18, 21-13. The Bruin duo improved to 19-2 on the year (18-2 on court four).
Court four was the deciding court as the Bruins' pair of senior Jordan Anderson and sophomore Izzy Carey defeated the Trojans' Abril Bustamante and Katrina Kernochan in two identical straight sets of 22-20. The Bruin duo improved to 20-1 on the year (19-1 on court four).
The Trojans provided the 3-2 final on court two as Sophie Bukovec and Allie Wheeler defeated the Bruins' duo of freshman Madi Yeomans and senior Kamila Tan in three sets, 19-21, 21-10, 17-15. The UCLA duo fell to 20-11 on the year (19-11 on court two).
