ALPHARETTA, Ga. - Junior Hidetoshi Yoshihara was the lone Bruin under par on Friday in round one of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, shooting a 2-under 70 to put him in a tie for 15th after 18 holes.
As a team, UCLA is in 11th place, recording a 5-over 293.
Yoshihara made an eagle-3 on the par-5 1st, which was his 10th hole of the day, adding a birdie on the second. He also made birdies on No. 12, 18 and 9 to go with two bogeys and a double in his first trip around the Golf Club of Georgia.
Freshman Sean Maruyama shot an even-par 72 and is tied for 30th. He made three birdies on his first nine (No. 12, 15 and 18) and another on his last hole, the ninth, adding two bogeys and a double. Sophomore Devon Bling is tied for 48th following a 3-over 75. He made three birdies on No. 18, 1 and 3 and six bogeys. Senior Cole Madey is tied for 55th after a 4-over 76, as he had one birdie on the first and five bogeys. Senior Jack Ireland posted a 6-over 78 and is tied for 63rd, recording two birdies on No. 3 and 8, four bogeys and two doubles.
Round two of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate begins at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT for the Bruins off the 10th tee in the order of Ireland, Madey, Bling, Maruyama and Yoshihara.
