LOS ANGELES – Prince Ali scored a team-leading 25 points to pace No. 21 UCLA past New York Institute of Technology, 125-73, on Saturday night in an exhibition game in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.
Saturday's contest marked UCLA's only exhibition game before opening regular season on Nov. 6.
Ali, one of the Bruins' most veteran players, made 10 of 17 shots and was one of six UCLA players to score in double figures.
Freshman center Moses Brown totaled 20 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks in 20 minutes. Brown made 8 of 9 shots from the field in his first game wearing a UCLA uniform.
Rounding out the Bruins' list of double-figure scorers included sophomore Jaylen Hands (15 points), freshman David Singleton (14), sophomore Kris Wilkes (13) and freshman Jules Bernard (10).
Singleton, who was celebrating his birthday, made 4 of 4 shots (all from three-points range). The freshman out of Bishop Montgomery High School had four assists, two steals and no turnovers.
Hands was equally efficient for UCLA, logging seven rebounds and seven assists with just one turnover.
"There's nothing weak about Mo," said Steve Alford, the Michael Price Family UCLA Men's Head Basketball Coach. "[He has] a thick body at 7-foot-2, and can move the way he can move. Several times tonight, he had blocks at one end and he's at the rim first at the other end. You don't see a lot of guys who are 7-2, who can move like that, and I think that's what makes Mo special."
UCLA never trailed after the 18-minute mark in the first half, leading by as many as 26 points before halftime. Brown made all five of his shot attempts in the opening half and registered three blocks in 12 first half minutes.

NYIT's Jeffrey Hayden scored a game-leading 27 points for the visiting Bears. He made 10 of 16 shots from the field, including 1 of 2 attempts from 3-point range.
In all, the Bruins saw 13 players enter the game, and 11 of those individuals scored at least two points.
UCLA shot 51 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the three-point arc (12-for-33). The Bruins outrebounded NYIT by a 58-33 margin, logged 21 assists and committed just nine turnovers.
The Bruins will open their regular-season schedule against Purdue Fort Wayne on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Game time in Pauley Pavilion is scheduled for 6 p.m. (PT).
