LOS ANGELES - The 21st-ranked Bruins dropped a three-set decision to No. 25 Washington on Saturday at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom. Set scores were 15-25, 22-25, 15-25.

Sophomore Mac May led the team with nine kills and nine digs, adding a pair of aces. Junior Madeleine Gates had seven kills and five blocks, junior Kylie Miller produced 21 assists and eight digs and senior Zana Muno posted eight digs. The Bruins hit .149 for the match.

The Bruins (12-11, 7-9 Pac-12) scored four of the first five points of the match on a block by Gates and sophomore Jenny Mosser, a Mosser ace and two Washington errors. The Huskies (17-9, 9-7 Pac-12) rallied with the next 10 points and never looked back, winning the opener by a score of 25-15. May and senior Kyra Rogers each had two kills, as the Bruins were out-hit, .273 to .087.

The second set was the closest of the match with 11 ties and five lead changes. Even at seven, the Bruins scored three in a row on a UW attack error and back-to-back aces by May. The latest lead for the Bruins was at 14-13, but four in a row for the Huskies gave the visitors a 17-14 edge. The Bruins tallied the next three on a kill by Gates, a block from Gates and Miller and a May kill to even things at 17, but Washington netted eight of the last 13 to win the second by a count of 25-22. May produced four kills and Gates had three with three blocks. The Bruins out-hit the Huskies, .281 to .229.

The lone lead for the Bruins in set three came after the first point following a May kill. The Huskies got the next four and led by at least two for the remainder of the set, winning the third by a score of 25-15. Gates, May and Mosser all had three kills. The Bruins were out-hit, .206 to .062.
