NEWS AND NOTES
Senior Zana Muno set a new UCLA single-match record last Thursday against Washington State when she had 38 digs. Muno, whose previous career high in digs was 34, broke the former Bruin single-match record of 36 set by Chrissie Zartman (2004) and Taylor Formico (2016) ... Muno surpassed the 1,500-dig mark in the match against the Cougars, as she enters this weekend's play with 1,510 for her career. She is in fourth place in school history, which will likely be where she ends her days, as third-place Formico recorded 1,685 digs ... the Bruins picked up the 1,300th victory in program history on Oct. 10 against Arizona State ... Michael Sealy is three wins away from 200 for his head coaching career ... on Oct. 19, UCLA won for the first time in Seattle since Oct. 3, 2003 (15 matches), while its victory over Washington snapped a nine-match overall losing streak to the Huskies ... the Bruins had 22 blocks in the Sept. 2 victory at then-No. 19 San Diego, their highest total since Nov. 8, 2007 against Oregon State. This century, UCLA has five matches with at least 20 blocks, with the 22 at USD ranking third on that list ... the Bruins are 10-0 when winning the third set of a match, as well as 8-0 when winning set four ... UCLA is 10-0 when leading the match in hitting ... the Bruins are 6-0 when leading in blocks ... UCLA is 4-0 in five-set matches ... senior Kyra Rogers recorded her third double-figure kills match of the season versus Washington State when she had 11. Her career best in kills came at Oregon State on Nov. 2 when she had 15 with just one error in 27 attempts for a .519 hitting percentage. Rogers has produced a .400 percentage or better in five contests, adding 11 matches with at least four blocks and an ace in four of her last five tilts ... sophomore Jenny Mosser has an ace in five matches in a row, including three at OSU. She has 10 double-figure digs contests on the season, as well as 10 matches with at least 10 kills ... Muno has double figures in digs in 19 matches this season, including 12 of her last 13. In that 12-match stretch, she has gone for at least 20 digs in half of them, including her 38-dig effort versus WSU, her second-career match with at least 30 digs. In a five-match stint from Oct. 26 (Cal) through last Thursday against WSU, Muno had 142 digs in 19 sets for an average of 7.47 digs per set ... redshirt freshman Alexis Light has at least five kills in 12 of her last 13 matches, producing a career-high 19 at California on Sept. 28. She has three contests with double figures in kills ... having started the last 11 matches at setter, junior Kylie Miller is averaging 10.29 assists and 2.45 digs per set during that span. She also has 10 aces in the last 11 matches, including five in her last four contests ... junior Savvy Simo had three-straight, double-figure digs matches from Nov. 2-8, recording 50 digs in 13 sets for an average of 3.85 per set. She also served one ace in each of those three contests ... sophomore Mac May had a streak of 12-straight matches with double figures in kills snapped against Washington last Saturday when she fell one short, but she still has at least 10 kills in 19 of 23 matches this season. May, who leads the team in double-doubles with eight, was one dig shy in both matches last week of reaching double figures in digs. She set a new career high in kills at Washington with 27. Behind the service line, May, the team leader in aces, has at least one in 16 of 23 contests. She has reached multiple aces in 11 matches and has seven aces in her last four contests ... junior Madeleine Gates has at least five kills in all but two matches this season, registering double figures in kills in two of her last four contests (season-high 17 at OSU, 15 vs. WSU). She is up to nine double-figure kills matches this season. Gates hit over .300 in both contests last week to give her 13 in 2018. She also has at least five blocks in nine tilts.
