LOS ANGELES - Head coach Kelly Inouye-Perez has announced UCLA's 56-game schedule for the 2019 season, which features 33 matchups against 20 teams which made the NCAA Tournament last season. The Bruins will play eight 2018 Super Regional teams (Arizona, Arizona State, Florida, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas A&M and Washington), as well as five of last season's Women's College World Series squads (ASU, Florida, Oregon, OU and UW). On the home front, UCLA will play 23 games at Easton Stadium.
The 2019 season gets underway in paradise at the aptly-named Hawaii Paradise Classic in Honolulu. The Bruins start the year on Thursday, Feb. 7 against UT Arlington and Fresno State, also facing the host Rainbow Wahine (Feb. 8), Georgia State (Feb. 9) and Saint Mary's (Feb. 9) during the opening weekend.
UCLA returns home for the annual Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament, with six games in three days. After opening on Feb. 15 against Cal Poly, the Bruins will play back-to-back contests versus teams which advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago, Boise State (Feb. 15) and Ole Miss (Feb. 16). UCLA's first home weekend concludes with games against Fresno State on Feb. 16 and UC Riverside and Loyola Marymount on Feb. 17.
The Bruins' next tournament takes them to Cathedral City for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. Six more games are on tap, including four against NCAA Tournament teams, facing Texas A&M on Feb. 21, 2018 WCWS representative Oklahoma and Missouri on Feb. 22 and Kentucky on Feb. 23. UCLA will also play Nebraska on Feb. 23 and Colorado State (Feb. 24).
Another busy week is on tap the following week, with four more games against 2018 postseason teams. First, the Bruins will play 2018 WCWS team Florida in a non-tournament, neutral-site contest in Fullerton on Feb. 27. After a day off, UCLA will be back in Fullerton for the Judi Garman Classic, getting a rematch with Florida in the first game of a March 1 doubleheader with NCAA Tournament team Michigan. A March 2 twinbill will feature LMU and NCAA Tournament team Auburn, with the tournament wrapping up on March 3 versus Connecticut.
In their final pre-conference tournament, the Bruins will co-host the UCLA/Long Beach State Invitational. After opening at Easton Stadium against Robert Morris on March 8, UCLA will face four consecutive NCAA teams, including BYU and Liberty in Westwood on March 9. The Bruins finish the tournament at LBSU on March 10, taking on NCAA teams Boston U. and host Long Beach State.
The Bruins open up Pac-12 Conference play against WCWS runner-up Washington (March 15-17). The following week, UCLA has a bye from league action, but will stay sharp with a non-conference doubleheader at CSUN on March 24, taking on Saint Mary's and the host Matadors. The Bruins will also entertain UC Santa Barbara on March 25 and 2018 NCAA team Cal State Fullerton on March 26 before resuming Pac-12 play at Easton Stadium versus California (March 29-31).
Following an April 5-7 series at 2018 WCWS squad Arizona State, the Bruins host another team which made the trip to Oklahoma City a year ago in Oregon (April 12-14). The final four weeks of Pac-12 play watch UCLA travel to NCAA team Oregon State (April 18-20), host Utah (April 26-28), head to Stanford (May 3-5) and entertain Arizona (May 9-11), which the Bruins defeated in last year's Super Regional round.
All times and dates for Pac-12 games are to be determined based on the television schedule, which will be announced in the next few weeks.
Postseason play will begin with the NCAA Regional round (May 17-19), followed by the NCAA Super Regionals (May 23-26) at campus sites. The 2019 Women's College World Series will once again take place in OKC, May 30 through June 5.
