May, Muno and Gates Named to All-Pac-12 Conference Teams

SAN FRANCISCO - A trio of Bruins were named to the All-Pac-12 Conference teams on Tuesday, as sophomore Mac May earned First Team accolades, while senior Zana Muno and junior Madeleine Gates picked up Honorable Mention nods.
The awards are the second for all three players, as Gates was named First Team last season, May was recognized as Honorable Mention in 2017 and Munoย earned Honorable Mention accolades as a freshman in 2015.
May led the Bruins with 3.69 kills per set, 34 service aces and eight double-doubles, adding 1.86 digs per set. She went for double figures in kills in 21 contests, registering a career-high 27 at Washington on Oct. 19. May also surpassed the 20-kill mark against Baylor (21 on Aug. 31) and California (20 on Sept. 28).ย Behind the service line, May had at least one ace in 18 of 27 matches, serving multiple aces 11 times. Her career high of four came against Arizona State on Oct. 10. In a six-match stretch from Oct. 12-Nov. 2, May went for double figures in digs five times, including a career-high 16 at Oregon State (Nov. 2).
Muno was tops on the team with 5.15 digs per set, which was first among Pac-12 liberos, as she also added seven service aces. Muno finished her UCLA career with 1,607 digs, ranking fourth in Bruin history. She posted a pair of 30-dig matches in the last month of the season, breaking the single-match school record with 38 digs on Nov. 8 against Washington State. In her final collegiate match on Nov. 23 versus USC, Munoย had 35 digs. She had double figures in digs in 23 matches, going for at least 20 on 11 occasions.ย
Gates paced UCLA with a .312 hitting percentage and 1.06 blocks per set this season, adding 2.34 kills per set, which was third on the squad. Gates had 10 double-figure kills contests, posting a season-best 17 at Oregon State.ย She hit over .300 in 16 matches, while adding at least five blocks in 10 tilts. Gates set a new career high with 11 blocks at San Diego on Sept. 2.
