ย
MOST RECENT SERIES
Since the series between UCLA and Notre Dame ended after the 1995-96 season, the two schools have played a pair of "home-and-home" series. The Bruins faced Notre Dame in Feb. 2004 and Feb. 2005 before resuming another "home-and-home" during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.
ย
MORE HISTORY AGAINST NOTRE DAME
No. 2-ranked Notre Dame snapped No. 1-ranked UCLA's historic 88-game winning streak on Jan. 19, 1974, in a game played in South Bend, Ind. One week later, the Bruins (ranked No. 2) defeated No. 1-ranked Notre Dame in Pauley Pavilion, 94-75. While the two schools have faced each other 48 previous times on the hardwood, UCLA and Notre Dame have never squared off in the NCAA Tournament. UCLA last hosted Notre Dame in Pauley Pavilion on Feb. 7, 2009.
ย
THE LAST MEETING
Notre Dame defeated UCLA, 84-73, in Notre Dame, Ind., when the two programs last faced each other. UCLA'S LEADING SCORER
Sophomore Kris Wilkes is the only UCLA player to have scored in double figures in all eight games. The 6-foot-9 guard from Indianapolis, Ind., enters this Saturday's game as the Bruins' leading scorer (17.5 ppg). He has also averaged 4.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the field. The former standout at North Central High School (Indianapolis) finished with 17 points and three rebounds in UCLA's 82-58 victory over Loyola Marymount on Sunday.
ย
WELL-DISTRIBUTED
Sophomore Jaylen Hands entered the week as the Pac-12's leader in total assists (50) and assists per game (6.3). The 6-foot-3 guard from San Diego registered a career-high 11 assists in last week's win over Hawai'i (Nov. 28) and followed that game with a 10-assist effort last Sunday against Loyola Marymount (Dec. 2). Hands became UCLA's first player since then-freshman Lonzo Ball in 2017 to have back-to-back games with at least 10 assists.
ย
CRASHING THE BOARDS
Moses Brown has averaged a team-leading 9.9 rebounds in his first eight games. He enters this Saturday's game having logged 13.0 points per game and 2.8 blocks per game. The 7-foot-1 center from Queens, N.Y., has tallied at least 10 rebounds in six of eight games, securing a season-high 17 boards in his first contest (UCLA's 96-71 win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Nov. 6). Brown became UCLA's first freshman to ever record double-doubles in his first three games, averaging 19.7 points and 13.7 rebounds in those three contests against Purdue Fort Wayne, Long Beach State and Saint Francis U.
ย
HOME COOKIN'
UCLA went 14-2 at home last season and has won 35 of 38 games in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom since the start of the 2016-17 campaign. During UCLA's 2016-17 season, the Bruins went 16-1 at home. Last year, the team's only home losses came against No. 25 Cincinnati (12/16/17) and Colorado (1/13/18). Since UCLA renovated Pauley Pavilion prior to the 2012-13 season, the Bruins have tallied an overall home record of 93-15 (logging an 86.1 winning percentage).
ย
STANDING TALL
UCLA's 17-person roster includes eight players who measure at least 6-foot-8. Freshman Moses Brown (7-foot-1, 245 pounds) is the Bruins' tallest player since the late Mike Lanier (7-foot-7, 310 pounds) competed as a reserve center for UCLA in 1991-92 and 1992-93. UCLA's Jalen Hill and Alex Olesinski are both 6-foot-10, while Kenneth Nwuba, Cody Riley, Shareef O'Neal and Chris Smith all stand at 6-foot-9. Kris Wilkes rounds out the group at 6-foot-8.
ย
FROM LONG DISTANCE
In each of the past two years, UCLA has shot the No. 1 percentage from three-point territory of any Pac-12 team. With Lonzo Ball and Bryce Alford in 2016-17, the Bruins shot 40.6 percent from three-point range. In 2017-18, after losing Ball and Alford (and Isaac Hamilton and TJ Leaf), the Bruins shot 38.1 percent from three-point distance, a mark that still ranked No. 1 in the conference. As a junior, Aaron Holiday led UCLA last season by shooting 42.9 percent from three-point territory.
ย
THE STREAK CONTINUES
UCLA has made at least one three-pointer in its last 630 games. That streak began after the Bruins went 0-for-14 from three-point range in a 78-63 loss at No. 2 Stanford on Feb. 3, 2000. The Bruins have made at least three 3-pointers in 177 of 182 games under sixth-year head coach Steve Alford.
