#18 UCLA Finishes First Leg of Week in Vegas

LAS VEGAS - The Bruins finished 10th at the Southern Highlands Collegiate, shooting a 4-over 292 on Wednesday at the Southern Highlands Golf Club. UCLA posted a 54-hole total of 11-over 875.
Sophomore Hidetoshi Yoshihara was the top finisher for the Bruins, tying for 28th at 3-over 219. On Wednesday, he made his lone birdie on the ninth to go with three bogeys for a 2-over 74. Senior Tyler Collier tied for 35th at 4-over 220. He was under par for his final round, shooting a 1-under 71 on four birdies (#3, #11, #16 and #18), one bogey and one double. Freshman Devon Bling and Eddy Lai each tied for 48th (+7, 223). Bling had the round of the day for UCLA, holing out for eagle on the 10th to go with four birdies (#4, #5, #12 and #14) and four bogeys, for a 2-under 70. Lai shot a 5-over 77, making his lone birdie on the third to go with six bogeys. Junior Cole Madey tied for 56th (+8, 224), shooting a 7-over 79 on Wednesday with a pair of birdies (#8 and #18), seven bogeys and a double.
The Bruins head 25 miles east for their next tournament, the Jackrabbit Invitational, which will be played Friday and Saturday at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev. Friday's action will be 36 holes and Saturday's play will be 18, with shotgun starts both days at 7 a.m. at the par-72, 7,402-yard layout. Live scoring will be available here.
