UCLA head women's volleyball coach Michael Sealy has announced three additional signees to the Bruins' signing class, as Sawyer Aigner-Swesey (Wrightwood, Calif./Serrano HS/Forza1 North Volleyball Club),ย Kelsey Campeau (Costa Mesa, Calif./Mater Dei HS/Momentous Volleyball Club) and Tristin Savage (Dallas, Ore./Dallas HS/DSK Volleyball Club) will join the Bruins for the upcoming 2018 season.
Aigner-Swesey, Campeau and Savage join Devon Chang (Newport Beach, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic HS/A4 Volley Club), Lexi Hadrych (Murrieta, Calif./Vista Murrieta HS/Coast Volleyball Club) and Hawley Harrer (Sisters, Ore./Sisters HS/Athena Volleyball Club), who were inked during the signing period last November.
Aigner-Swesey, a 5-foot-7 libero,ย prepped at Serrano High School in Phelan, Calif., where she played four years of varsity volleyball. Aigner-Sweseyย was a four-year All-Mojave River League selection, and All-County Team as a senior. A team captain in 2017, she helped the Diamondbacks to Mojave River League undefeated titles every season. Aigner-Swesey was the 2017 REV Tournament Most Valuable Player and was coached at Serrano byย Ross Hansen and Chelsea Talbott. Aigner-Sweseyย plays club at Forza1ย North Volleyball under coaches Morgan Coberly and Kurt Vlasich. She was a member of the 16 and Under All-Tournament Team, a silver medalist and a team captain for the last three years.
"Sawyer has the physical tools and court presence to do great things at UCLA," Sealy said. "Two words that jump out to me when I watch her play are intent and engagement. Every touch matters to Sawyer and it is refreshing to see that level of professionalism in a young athlete. I am excited for her to be in our gym."
Campeau, a 5-foot-4 libero, played three years of varsity volleyball at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif., playing for former UCLA assistant coach Dan O'Dell. Campeauย was a two-time First Team All-CIF and All-State selection, while also earning First Team All-Trinity League and All-County and MaxPreps First Team All-American. A two-time varsity captain and MVP at the Nike Tournament of Champions, she helped the Monarchs to two CIF and Trinity League Championships in 2015 and 2017, as Mater Dei was also the 2016 CIF and 2017 State runners-up. Campeau is the all-time digs leader at Mater Dei with 1,328, including a single-season record 574 as a senior. She currently plays club with Momentous Volleyball under coach Randy Post. Campeauย was named to the All-Tournament Team twice at JO's, earning a 17-USA Gold medal and an 18-Open Bronze medal.
"Kelsey has played on high-level championship teams in club and high school," Sealy said. "She has played with and against the top players in the country for years now. Kelsey has the physical skills to play the libero position well and has the communication and leadership intangibles that will allow her to make a big impact on the court and in the program."
Savage, a 6-foot-5 middle blocker, played four years of volleyball, two years of basketball and four years of equestrian at Dallas High School in Dallas, Ore. Savage and the Dragons were seventh in State, as she was First Team 5A Mid-Willamette League as a senior and Second Team as a junior. She made nationals with her club team, DSK, under coach David Keller. At DHS, Savage was also All-League Second Team in basketball and All-State in equestrian.
"Tristin is someone who got into volleyball later in her juniors career, switching after her junior year from her focus of basketball," Sealy said. "She has very good blocking instincts and hits hard. She has all the basic fundamental skills that can result in becoming a great player. Tristin is a blue-collar, hard-working athlete who has improved immensely in the past year. We are excited about her future here at UCLA."
