Bruins Move Up Two Spots at Golfweek Conference Challenge

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The 21st-ranked Bruins moved up two spots in the Golfweek Conference Challenge standings after shooting a 4-under 284 on Monday, the fourth-best round of the day at the Cedar Rapids Country Club. Through 36 holes, UCLA is in solo seventh at 1-over 577.
Senior Jack Ireland is still tops among Bruin golfers, sitting in a tie for ninth (-3, 141) with one round to go. Ireland posted a 2-under 70 on Monday, notching five birdies on No. 10, 11, 18, 3 and 6 and three bogeys.
Junior Hidetoshi Yoshihara produced the round of the day for the Bruins with a 4-under 68. He moved up 30 spots in the standings and is tied for 19th (-1, 143) after 36 holes. Yoshihara made five birdies on No. 10, 16, 17, 6 and 8 to go with just one bogey.
Senior Cole Madey is tied for 32nd after two rounds at 2-over 146. He shot a 2-over 74 on Monday with two birdies on the 16th and second holes and four bogeys. Sophomore Eddy Lai shot a 1-over 73 in round two and is tied for 47th (+4, 148), making three birdies on No. 17, 18 and 7 and four bogeys. Senior Patrick Murphy, playing as an individual, is tied for 53rd (+5, 149). He shot a 2-over 74 in his second round, producing four birdies on No. 11, 17, 1 and 8 and six bogeys. Freshman Sean Maruyama is tied for 56th (+6, 150), posting a 1-over 73. He had four birdies (No. 10, 11, 6 and 9), three bogeys and a double. Senior Phil Delisi, playing as an individual, is 79th (+11, 155), making a birdie on the ninth and five bogeys in a 4-over 76.
Tuesday's final round will be a shotgun start at 7 a.m. PT/9 a.m. CT, with Ireland starting on the sixth hole, Yoshihara on No. 7, Lai and Madey on the eighth and Maruyama on the ninth. Murphy and Delisi begin on the 17th and 18th, respectively.
