Karsta Lowe Named to FIVB World Championship Roster

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - Bruin alum Karsta Lowe on Friday was one of 14 players named to the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team and will represent the United States at the FIVB World Championship, which will be played Sept. 29-Oct. 20 in Japan.
Lowe, a member of Team USA since May 2015, will be making her first World Championship appearance. She played on the bronze-medal winning team at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, while also earning Most Valuable Player honors at the 2015 FIVBย World Grand Prix. After taking time off to work on her master's degree following the 2016-2017 professional season, Lowe rejoined Team USA this May and scored 18 points in her first competition back in an exhibition match against Japan. In this current season for Team USA, Lowe is averaging 3.11 points per set with a .336 hitting percentage in 18 sets.
Lowe was a two-time AVCA All-America, AVCA First Team All-Region and All-Pac-12 First Team selection at UCLA. She ranks fifth in UCLA history in kills per set (3.98) and 13th in kills (1,422).
Team USA, ranked second in the world, will be attempting to defend its World Championship title from 2014. The team will be guided by UCLA grad, head coach Karch Kiraly. The FIVBย Women's World Championship is played every four years in the second year of the Olympic quadrennial. The schedule for the tournament is below:
