Bruins Finish Pre-Class Schedule in Illinois and Colorado

LAKE FOREST, Ill./ERIE, Colo. - The Bruins finish up their pre-Fall quarter schedule this week at two tournaments, with the starting five and three individuals playing at the Windon Memorial Classic at Knollwood Club (par 72, 7,202 yards) and four additional individuals participating at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational (par 72, 7,703 yards) at Colorado National Golf Club.
The starting five in Illinois will be seniors Jack Ireland and Cole Madey, junior Hidetoshi Yoshihara and sophomores Devon Bling and Eddy Lai. Senior Patrick Murphy, junior Harrison Mahon and freshman Sean Maruyama will be playing as individuals. Sunday's first round will be a shotgun start beginning at 6:45 a.m. PT/8:45 a.m. CT, with Yoshihara and Ireland starting on hole No. 1, Madey on the second, Lai on No. 3 and Bling on the fourth. Mahon and Murphy start on the 17th and Maruyama opens on No. 18. The second round will immediately follow the first 18 holes on Sunday, with Monday's final round going off split tees at 6 a.m. PT/8 a.m. CT.
Joining the Bruins and host Northwestern in the 16-team field are Army, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Iowa State, Marquette, Memphis, Michigan, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, Purdue, South Florida, Southern Illinois, UC Davis and UNCG.
The Bruins are coming off a seventh-place finish (+1, 577) at the rain-shortened Golfweek Conference Challenge (Sept. 16-17) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ireland was the top finisher for the Bruins, tying for ninth (-3, 141). Yoshihara tied for 19th (-1, 143), followed by Madey (T-32, +2, 146), Lai (T-47, +4, 148), Murphy (T-53, +5, 149), Maruyama (T-56, +6, 150) and senior Phil Delisi (79th, +11, 155). Bling returns to action after missing the Golfweek Challenge with an injury.
Mahon was a member of the group of individuals who played at the Northern Intercollegiate (Sept. 15-16) in Sugar Grove, Ill., as he tied for fourth (E, 216). Three of the Bruins who played at the Northern will head to Colorado. Joining Delisi in that group will be freshmen Ahmed Ali, Rory Feng and Bryan Wiyang Teoh. Teoh tied for 28th (+7, 223), Ali tied for 44th (+11, 227) and Feng tied for 61st (+15, 231).
The Colorado Invite starts on Monday with 36 holes of golf, as play will be a shotgun start beginning at 7:15 a.m. PT/8:15 a.m. CT. Tuesday's final round and shotgun start will begin at 7:15 a.m. PT/8:15 a.m. CT.
