
UCLA Registers 87-67 Victory at Washington State

PULLMAN, Wash. – Five Bruins scored in double figures as the UCLA men's basketball team cruised past Washington State, 87-67, in a Pac-12 contest at Beasley Coliseum on Wednesday night.
Prince Ali, Moses Brown and Kris Wilkes each registered 16 points for UCLA (12-9, 5-3 Pac-12). The Bruins also received 10 points from Cody Riley and Jaylen Hands.
Brown registered seven rebounds and Ali tallied a season-high six rebounds.
UCLA led at halftime by a 44-37 margin, and Washington State was able to reduce its deficit to just two points early in the second half. A jump shot by Washington State's CJ Elleby pulled the Cougars (8-13, 1-7 Pac-12) to within 49-47 of the Bruins.
From that point, Ali made a layup and Wilkes nailed a 3-pointer to trigger a 13-2 scoring run for UCLA. The Bruins pushed their margin to 62-49 at the 13:20 mark on a dunk by Brown.
After WSU's Aljaz Kunc hit a 3-pointer with 12:58 to go, pulling Washington State to within 10 points at 62-52, UCLA used a 14-3 run to extend the lead to 21 points with just over eight minutes remaining.
The Bruins finished the game having shot just under 59 percent from the field, the team's best overall shooting percent of the season (58.8%). UCLA made 9 of 19 attempts from 3-point range, including seven of those made 3-pointers in the first half.
Washington State shot 43.9 percent from the field, as Robert Franks led the host Cougars with 21 points. Franks connected on 8 of 14 shots overall and 3 of 7 attempts from 3-point range.
UCLA will return to action at Washington (17-4, 8-0 Pac-12) on Saturday, Feb. 2. Game time at Washington's Alaska Airlines Arena is set for 1 p.m. (PT). The game will be nationally televised on ESPN2.
