Junior outside hitter Mac May of the UCLA women's volleyball team has been named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 21-27.
May helped the Bruins to a pair of upset victories last weekend over No. 2 Stanford on Friday and No. 15 California on Sunday. May totaled 33 kills, 19 digs, four blocks and a .338 hitting percentage in the two wins. She produced a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs in the sweep over the Cardinal, hitting .333 with two blocks. UCLA's victory was the first against a top two team since Nov. 26, 2015 against USC, while it was also the first time Stanford was swept since '15. Two days later versus Cal, May led all players with 21 kills, the third time this season she surpassed the 20-kill mark. She hit .340 with nine digs, two blocks and an ace. The Bruins have won nine of their last 10 over California.
This is May's second UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week award of the season and third of her career.
