WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Redshirt senior Jada Hart and associate head coach Rance Brown of the UCLA women's tennis team and junior Keegan Smith of the men's tennis team will suit up for Team USA at the 2019 BNP Paribas International Collegiate Team Competition in Grenoble, France from Nov. 29-Dec. 1, the USTA announced Wednesday.
Hart is the lone returner from the 2018 championship team, which gave the US its eighth Master'U title in 12 years competing. The Colton, Calif. native went 4-1 in her doubles matches, including a thrilling 0-6, 7-6(7), 1-0(8) victory alongside Duke's Maria Mateas to clinch the title versus Great Britain. Hart rode her Master'U success into a season that saw her reach the singles quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championships. She is currently slotted in the top 10 of the Oracle ITA singles and doubles (with Elysia Bolton) rankings.
Smith and Brown will represent their home country for the second time this year, as the Bruins competed at the 2019 Summer Universiade in Naples, Italy during the summer. Entering his junior season, Smith earned the 2019 NCAA doubles championship with Maxime Cressy and is ranked within the top 20 on the Oracle ITA singles and doubles lists. He has career records of 64-13 (singles) and 48-17 (doubles).
Brown will assist former Boise State men's coach and longtime Team USA leader Greg Patton. Rounding out the roster are Aleks Kovacevic of Illinois, Alexandre Rotsaert of Stanford, Michaela Gordon of Stanford and Alexa Graham of North Carolina.
Described as "college's answer to Fed Cup and Davis Cup," Master'U competition consists of two men's singles matches, two women's singles matches, one men's doubles match, one women's doubles match and one mixed doubles match.
