BRUINS ON THE OREGON TRAIL
No. 13 UCLA (11-4-1 overall, 5-3-0 in the Pac-12) will play its last Pac-12 road series this weekend, traveling to Oregon State (10-4-2, 2-4-2) on Thursday, Oct. 31 and to Oregon (5-6-5, 1-5-2) on Sunday, Nov. 3. The Bruins are a combined 40-6 all-time against the Oregon schools.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
Oregon State breezed through the non-conference season undefeated, going 8-0 with five shutouts. The Beavers are 2-4-2 in Pac-12 play, however, with losses to two ranked teams from Stanford and Washington State and a win over No. 17 Colorado. Mckenzie Weinert leads the team in scoring with nine goals and 21 points. Brianna McReynolds ranks second in scoring with five goals and five assists for 15 points. Goalkeeper Bridgette Skiba ranks fourth in the conference in saves (55) and goals against average (0.85).

THE SERIES WITH OREGON STATE
UCLA holds a 20-4 advantage over Oregon State in the all-time series and has won three straight., including last year's 6-0 victory on UCLA's Senior Day a year ago. Ashley Sanchez scored two goals in that match, and Teagan Micah earned the shutout. and Delanie Sheehan scored for the Bruins in that game, and Lauren Brzykcy earned the shutout. The Bruins held the Beavers to just one shot in the entire game. Oregon's last win in the series came in 2015 in Corvallis, 2-1.

SCOUTING THE DUCKS
Oregon enters the week with a 5-6-5 overall and 1-5-2 Pac-12 record. The Ducks defeated Arizona State 1-0 in their last game on Sunday for their first conference victory. Jordan Wormdahl is the team's leading scorer with seven goals. Zoe Hasenauer ranks second in scoring with 12 points (4 goals, 4 assists), and Ally Cook has recorded five goals. The Ducks are coached by Kat Mertz, who was a UCLA assistant coach under Jill Ellis from 2000-04. Associate head coach Manny Martins also coached at UCLA from 2011-12.

THE SERIES WITH OREGON
UCLA leads the all-time series, 20-2 and has won the last 12 matchups. Oregon's last win came in 2006, 2-1 in Eugene. The Bruins won last year's meeting 2-1 at home, with Ashley Sanchez recording a goal and assisting on Kennedy Faulknor's game-winner.

LAST TIME OUT
UCLA swept the Washington schools last week, shutting out Washington 1-0 on an 87th minute Maricarmen Reyes volley. The Bruin defense held the Huskies to just four shots, none on goal, and Lauren Brzykcy recorded her second-straight shutout. Against No. 19 Washington State on Senior Day, the Bruins overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit, scoring two in the second half to claim victory. Ashley Sanchez tied the game in the 54th minute, and Mia Fishel scored the game-winner in the 85th. Anika Rodriguez, who was one of seven senior starters, earned assists on each goal.

FISHING FOR GOALS
Freshman forward Mia Fishel has made a quick impact for the Bruins in her first year, leading the team in goals scored with eight and in game-winning goals with four and is second in points with 18. She is tied for second among all Pac-12 freshmen in goals scored. Fishel, who played for the U.S. in the 2018 FIFA U-17 World Cup, has two multiple goal games this season, knocking in two in the 4-0 win at Hawaii and both goals in the 2-0 win over Utah.

SANCHEZ WITHIN REACH OF UCLA ASSISTS RECORD
With seven assists this year, junior forward Ashley Sanchez has moved into second place on UCLA's career assist list with 34 and is just four away from tying the school record held by Iris Mora, the Mexican Olympian who totaled 38 from 2002-05. Sanchez already holds UCLA records for single-game assists (four in 2018), consecutive games with a goal or assist (16 from 2018-19), single-season NCAA Tournament assists (seven in 2018), career NCAA Tournament assists (11) and assists by a freshman (12 in 2017).

RETURNS FOR RODRIGUEZ, REYES
After missing the last 11 games of the season last year with a knee injury, fifth-year senior Anika Rodriguez has made it back to the pitch. Rodriguez made her return to competition on Sept. 5 at Santa Clara and earned her first start of the season against Arizona State, recording her first point with an assist. She has started in a total of five games this year, all UCLA victories. Against Washington State on Oct. 27, she played a season-high 66 minutes and assisted on both of UCLA's goals in a 2-1 victory. Sophomore midfielder Maricarmen Reyes, who had knee surgery in the offseason, made her first appearance of the season Oct. 19 at Stanford, playing eight minutes in the second half and recording one shot. In her first home game of the year on Oct. 23 against Washington, she scored the game-winning goal in the 87th minute, and she added an assist on Ashley Sanchez's game-tying goal in the win over Washington State. Reyes earned Pac-12 All-Freshman honors a year ago after scoring three goals in 21 games.

MILESTONES FOR MICAH
It's been quite a 2019 for senior goalkeeper Teagan Micah. After spending the summer with the Australian Women's National Team at the World Cup, Micah returned for her final season in Westwood and hit several major milestones during non-conference play. She earned her 200th career save in the season opening shutout win over Iowa State, recorded her 50th career win in the shutout victory over Florida, and earned her 30th career shutout against Wisconsin. She also won a Pac-12 record eighth Goalkeeper of the Week award on Sept. 3 and was named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week on Sept. 17 after making a season-high five saves in the shutout win over Wisconsin. Micah, who has five solo and one shared shutout and a 0.77 goals against average, has moved into third on UCLA's all-time saves chart with 225 and is third with 54 career wins. With 31 shutouts, she has moved into a tie for third on UCLA's career shutout list.

SWEET 16 FOR SANCHEZ
Ashley Sanchez ran her school record point scoring streak to 16 games after scoring in the first three games of the season. Her streak ran from Sept. 30, 2018 to Aug. 29, 2019, and she totaled nine goals and 16 assists (35 points) during that time. With just over two seasons under her belt, Sanchez already ranks second on UCLA's career list with 34 assists and is just four away from tying Iris Mora's school record of 38. Sanchez leads the team in points (17) and assists (seven).

MAINSTAYS
Four Bruin players have started in all 16 games this season - Kaiya McCullough, Karina Rodriguez, Viviana Villacorta, and Lucy Parker. All four have logged over 1,300 minutes this year. Four other players have played in all 16 games - Ashley Sanchez, Delanie Sheehan, Mia Fishel and Chloe Castaneda. McCullough has made 68 consecutive starts, the only game she has not started coming on Oct. 23, 2016 due to illness. Rodriguez has started in 44 consecutive games. Parker started every game at LSU in 2017 and 2018 and has a streak of 58 consecutive starts. She leads the team in minutes played with 1,443.

UCLA DEBUTS
Six Bruins made their official UCLA debuts in the season opener - junior transfer Lucy Parker, redshirt freshman Shana Flynn, and freshmen Mia Fishel, Kali Trevithick, Rachel Lowe and Brianne Riley. Four more freshmen earned their first collegiate appearances at Hawaii on Sept. 22 - Kylie Kerr, Jackie Gilday, Brecken Mozingo and Janae DeFazio. Fishel leads the Bruin freshmen in games played and started with 16 and 12, respectively. Brianne Riley is next in games played with 14. She has also made one start.

IN THE RANKINGS
The Bruins have moved up five spots to No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches and Top Drawer Soccer polls. UCLA is No. 11 in the RPI.

FOUR BRUINS WIN 2019 NWSL CHAMPIONSHIP
For the second consecutive year, UCLA alumnae Abby Dahlkemper, Sam Mewis, Katelyn Rowland and McCall Zerboni have won the NWSL Championship with the North Carolina Courage. The Courage defeated the Chicago RedStars 4-0 in the final. It was the third NWSL title for Dahlkemper, Mewis and Zerboni, who also won with the Western New York Flash in 2016. Rowland won her fourth title in five years, as she was a member of FC Kansas City's championship team in 2015, the Western New York Flash in 2016 and the Courage in 2018 and 2019. Dahlkemper, Mewis and Rowland helped lead UCLA to the 2013 NCAA title.

ELLIS TO BE INDUCTED INTO UCLA ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME NOV. 1
Former UCLA head coach Jill Ellis will be inducted into the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame on Nov. 1. Ellis, the winningest coach in UCLA women's soccer history, posted a 229-45-14 record over 12 years (1999-2010) and led UCLA to eight College Cup appearances, including seven in a row from 2003-09. She won seven Pac-10 titles during her tenure and coached 13 Bruins to 24 NSCAA All-America honors. She left UCLA to join the U.S. Women's National Teams in 2011 and went on to become the head coach in 2014. Ellis led the U.S. to back-to-back FIFA Women's World Cup titles in 2015 and 2019, becoming only the second coach in men's or women's World Cup history to accomplish this feat. She recently won the FIFA World Coach of the Year award for Women's Football for the second time and completed her tenure as head coach of the U.S. Women's National Team as the winningest coach in USWNT history with a 106-7-19 overall record.

FLEMING SELECTED SENIOR CLASS AWARD FINALIST
UCLA team captain and international star Jessie Fleming has been selected as one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award for women's soccer. The award honors student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. Fleming is a two-time World Cup player and Olympic bronze medalist who has already amassed 69 caps for the Canadian Women's National Team. As a sophomore at UCLA in 2017, she was a finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy and earned first-team All-America honors. During her freshman year in 2016, she led UCLA in scoring with 11 goals and 27 points. In 2018, she missed half the season while on Canadian National Team duty yet still recorded five goals and five assists in just 11 games. This season, she has totaled eight points on two goals and four assists. Fleming is a three-time first-team All-Pac-12 honoree and was Top Drawer Soccer's Freshman of the Year in 2016. She was also just the fourth UCLA freshman ever to earn NSCAA All-America honors. Top Drawer Soccer currently rates her No. 2 in the Top 100 Player rankings.

The Bruins' team captain the last three years, Fleming is also a leader in the classroom, earning honor roll distinction four times and honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic honors twice in one of the most challenging majors on campus โ€“ materials engineering (with an environmental science minor). This summer, she earned a 4.0 GPA in her summer courses. Additionally, she is volunteering with a company that collects and redistributes extra produce from farmer's markets.

BRUINS ON MIDSEASON TOP 100
Six Bruins are currently listed on Top Drawer Soccer's midseason Top 100 upperclassman list, including two in the Top 4 - No. 2 Jessie Fleming and No. 4 Ashley Sanchez. Fleming and Sanchez each made the TDS Preseason Best XI first-team. Also rated in the Top 100 are No. 39 Karina Rodriguez, No. 51 Viviana Villacorta, No. 60 Lucy Parker, and No. 72 Delanie Sheehan. Additionally, Mia Fishel ranks No. 15 on the Freshman midseason Top 100.

SUMMER SCHOOL STANDOUTS
A total of five Bruins earned 4.0 GPAs for their 2019 summer courses, which ended in mid-September - senior Chloe Castaneda, junior Jessie Fleming and freshmen Jackie Gilday, Hannah Mitchell and Kali Trevithick.

WORLD CUP BRUINS
Seniors Jessie Fleming and Teagan Micah were two of six Bruins who played in the 2019 Women's World Cup in France this summer. Fleming started all four of Canada's games, logging 360 minutes, the most of any collegiate player. She scored her first World Cup goal in a 2-0 win over New Zealand and was named the FIFA Player of the Match. Micah was a reserve goalkeeper for the Australian team, which fell in penalties in the Round of 16. Other Bruins playing in the World Cup were Americans Abby Dahlkemper, Sam Mewis and Mal Pugh, and New Zealand's Rosie White.

BRUINS VS. THE WORLD
While Jessie Fleming and Teagan Micah were representing their respective countries at the World Cup, 20 of their Bruin teammates were representing the U.S. at the World University Games in Italy. The U.S. finished the tournament with a 2-2 record, dropping close 2-1 decisions against Italy and Japan to start but closing strong with a 4-0 win over South Africa and a 3-1 victory over Mexico. The Bruins had three goals from Ashley Sanchez and two each from Mia Fishel and Olivia Athens. Lauren Brzykcy recorded 10 saves vs. Japan and had a shutout against South Africa.

CROMWELL CLIMBING COACHING CHARTS
UCLA head coach Amanda Cromwell is making a quick rise up the coaching charts in winning percentage and victories. With a 325-121-40 record at the start of the 2019 season, she ranked No. 15 in winning percentage (.710) and No. 18 in victories (325) among all active Division I coaches. All-time, she is at No. 16 in winning percentage and No. 21 in victories.

THREE ON MAC HERMANN TROPHY WATCH LIST
Three members of the Bruin team have been selected to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List for 2019, including 2017 finalist Jessie Fleming, 2018 semifinalist Ashley Sanchez and LSU transfer and 2018 third-team All-American Lucy Parker. The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. This year's winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
