October 31, 2019 | Women's Soccer
Corvallis, Ore. - Redshirt senior Chloe Castaneda scored two goals and added an assist to lead No. 13 UCLA to a 4-0 victory at Oregon State Thursday night. Maricarmen Reyes added a goal and an assist, and Ashley Sanchez recorded two assists as the Bruins improved to 12-4-1 overall and 6-3-0 in the Pac-12.
Castaneda scored both goals in the first half, netting the first, her first of the season, after a perfect through ball from Ashley Sanchez in the 15th minute. Castaneda added her second on a strong individual effort at 37:00. Sanchez started the play by chasing down a ball in the box and sending it across to Maricarmen Reyes at the top of the circle. Reyes hit Castaneda, who faked out her defender to get free and took a clean shot that beat goalkeeper Bridgette Skiba.
After taking a 2-0 lead into halftime, the Bruins came out firing at the start of the second half but hit woodwork on three shots, as Kennedy Faulknor hit the crossbar in the 49th minute, and Anika Rodriguez hit the left post and Ashley Sanchez hit the crossbar in the 64th minute. Reyes broke through at 71:33, however, sending a left-footed shot past Skiba for her second goal in the last three games.
The Bruins added an own goal at 74:23. Off a free kick, Karina Rodriguez headed a dangerous ball to the left post for Castaneda. Skiba got a hand on it to deflect it, but the ball was cleared by a Beaver defender right into the back of the net.
