BRUINS HOST STACY WINSBERG MEMORIAL TOURNEY
The top-ranked UCLA softball team hosts the annual Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament this weekend at Easton Stadium. The Bruins will play six times in three days, facing Cal Poly (4:30 p.m.) and Boise State (7 p.m.) on Friday, Ole Miss (4:30 p.m.) and Fresno State (7 p.m.) on Saturday and UC Riverside (2 p.m.) and Loyola Marymount (4:30 p.m.) on Sunday. HONORING STACY WINSBERG
This weekend's tournament honors former UCLA softball player Stacy Winsberg. Winsberg was a four-year letterwinner with the Bruins (1982-1985) and played for three national championship teams ('82, '84, '85). She was also a two-time ASA All-American and played internationally in the Tri-National Tournament and the Japan Cup in 1985. Winsbergย lost her battle with cancer in December 2001, and beginning with the 2002 edition, this tournament has been named in her honor. The Winsberg family will be recognized prior to Saturday's UCLA game against Ole Miss.

The Bruins will have another six games on tap next weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. UCLA plays No. 19 Texas A&M (8 p.m.) on Thursday, Feb. 21, No. 3 Oklahoma (6 p.m.) and Missouri (8:30 p.m.) on Friday, Feb. 22, Nebraska (3 p.m.) and No. 18 Kentucky (5:30 p.m.) on Saturday, Feb. 23 and Colorado State (2 p.m.) on Sunday, Feb. 24. The Bruins remained at first in this week's ESPN.com/USA Softball poll. UCLA is also at second for the second week in a row in the USA Today/NFCA rankings and second, up one spot, in the Softball America rankings. UCLA was selected first in the preseason Pac-12 Conference coaches poll.
NEWS AND NOTES
Junior Bubba Nickles is riding a 16-game hitting streak, dating back to last season when she ended the year on an 11-game streak. During the stretch, Nickles is batting .533 (24-for-45) with six home runs, 18 runs batted in and 15 runs scored ... sophomore Briana Perez also had hits in all five games last weekend and has reached base in 28 straight contests dating back to last season. Four of Perez's five games last weekend were multiple-hit contests ... after going hitless in game one, senior Taylor Pack had multiple hits in each of the next four contests ... freshman Kelli Godin stole three bases against Saint Mary's on Saturday. It is the first time a Bruin has swiped three bags in one game since 2014 (Allexis Bennett) ... Bruin pitchers struck out 46 in 32 innings, and in five of those frames, UCLA hurlers struck out the side. Redshirt junior Rachel Garcia did it three times versus Hawaii on Friday, while freshman Megan Faraimo accomplished the feat twice on Saturday against Georgia State. Speaking of strikeouts, sophomore Holly Azevedo tied a career high with seven against Fresno State ... UCLA did not make an error in 127 opportunities last weekend.
BRUINS VERSUS THE WINSBERG FIELD
The Bruins lead the all-time series with Cal Poly, 31-3, having won 24 in a row over the Mustangs. UCLA won twice over Cal Poly in 2018 (13-0 in 5 innings on Feb. 10 and 7-2 in Feb. 11) at Easton Stadium. The Bruins are 13-1 at home versus Cal Poly ... UCLA has won all three matchups against Boise State, all at neutral sites, most recently in Las Vegas on Feb. 15, 2015 (6-0) ... the Bruins and Ole Miss met in a thrilling 2017 NCAA Super Regional at Easton Stadium (May 25-26), with UCLA winning 8-7 in 11 innings and 1-0 to advance to the WCWS. The Bruins are 3-1 all-time versus the Rebels ... UCLA improved to 46-11 overall against Fresno State following its victory last Friday in Honolulu. The Bruins have won three in a row over the Bulldogs and are 14-1 at home versus Fresno ... UCLA and UC Riverside met for the first time in eight years last season, with the Bruins coming out on top, 13-2 in five innings. UCLA is 20-2 all-time against the Highlanders and 8-0 at home ... the Bruins are 25-1 against Loyola Marymount, having won six in a row. UCLA, which is 15-1 at home versus the Lions, haven't played LMU since Feb. 16, 2014 (2-0 at Easton Stadium).
