
Bruins Third After 18 Holes at The Prestige

LA QUINTA, Calif. - The Bruins are in third place after 18 holes at The Prestige presented by Charles Schwab. UCLA shot a 2-over 286 on the Greg Norman Course at PGA West on Monday and sits eight strokes back of Oklahoma State and seven behind LSU.
Senior Cole Madey is the top Bruin after the first round following a 1-under 70, putting him in a tie for 11th. He made a birdie on his first hole, the 10th, and bounced back from four bogeys at the end of his first nine by making four birdies on No. 4, 5, 8 and 9.
Sophomore Devon Bling is tied for 15th at even-par 71. He recorded two birdies on No. 12 and 5 and one double bogey. Freshman Sean Maruyama is tied for 21st, shooting a 1-over 72. He posted five birdies on No. 13, 15, 16, 4 and 9, four bogeys and one double. Junior Hidetoshi Yoshihara is tied for 24th, shooting a 2-over 73. He made a birdie on his first hole, No. 10, and three bogeys. Sophomore Eddy Lai is tied for 66th (+7, 78), making two birdies on No. 11 and 16, five bogeys and a quad.
Round two for the Bruins will start at 9:20 a.m. on the first tee in the order of Lai, Yoshihara, Maruyama, Bling and Madey.
