BRUINS IN THE POLLS
The Bruins check in at second in all three national polls (NFCA/USA Softball/Softball America) this week. UCLA was selected first in the preseason Pac-12 Conference coaches poll.

GARCIA, FARAIMO EARNED PAC-12 WEEKLY HONORS
The Bruins earned a pair of Pac-12 weekly awards on Tuesday, as redshirt junior Rachel Garcia was named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row, while Megan Faraimo picked up conference Freshman of the Week honors.

In two complete-game victories last week, Garcia struck out 27 and walked none, limiting batters to just 10 hits and one run. In her 14 frames, she struck out the side in five of them and had two strikeouts in five more. Garcia fanned 13 in a six-hit shutout over Ole Miss on Feb. 16, adding 14 strikeouts in a four-hitter the next day versus Loyola Marymount. In three of her four starts this season, Garcia has posted strikeout totals of 13, 14 and 15. She also went 4-for-7 (.571) at the plate last week with a home run, four runs batted in, three runs scored and two doubles.

In her lone appearance of the week and just her second career start, Faraimo tossed the 110th no-hitter in UCLA history and the first of her career. She struck out 10 in her five-inning victory over Fresno State, retiring the final 14 batters she faced. Two walks in the first inning were the only baserunners for the Bulldogs, as Faraimo struck out the side in the first and two each in the second, third and fourth.

Garcia's award is the ninth Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week accolade of her career. She won the honor four times last season and three times as a freshman in 2017. Faraimo's award is her first and the 15th Pac-12 FOW for the Bruins since the award began in 2016.

NEWS AND NOTES
Junior Bubba Nickles is riding a 20-game hitting streak, dating back to last season when she ended the year on an 11-game streak. The junior posted the second two-homer game of her career against UC Riverside on Feb. 17 ... sophomore Briana Perez has hits in eight of nine games and has reached base in 31 of 32 contests dating back to last season. Perez has six multiple-hit games ... redshirt sophomore Aaliyah Jordan has hits in six games in a row, including three two-hit contests. She has five RBI in her last two games ... freshman Kelli Godin stole three bases against Saint Mary's on Feb. 9. Bruin pitchers have struck out 89 in 56 innings, led by 49 from redshirt junior Rachel Garcia to just two walks. UCLA pitchers have limited opponents to a .131 batting average, allowing only nine runs ... in the two half-innings in which the Bruins have trailed (after top of first vs. Georgia State and after top of third vs. LMU), they have come back to tie the score in the next half inning.

BRUINS VERSUS THE MARY NUTTER FIELD
