SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Bruins were one of 12 teams to finish all 36 holes on Monday at the Bruin Wave Invitational and are tied for second at +23 (599). UCLA, which shot a 298 (+10) in the morning and a 301 (+13) in the afternoon, is currently seven shots back of Oregon, which still has holes remaining in its second round, and tied with Stanford.
Senior Beth Wu is tied for fifth at 4-over 148. She had a birdie on the fifth hole in both of her rounds, posting two bogeys and a double in an opening-round, 3-over 75 and two bogeys in a second-round, 1-over 73.
Junior Mariel Galdiano is tied for 11th (+5, 149). She had two bogeys and 16 pars in round one (+2, 74), adding one birdie on the third and four bogeys in round two (+3, 75).
Junior Clare Legaspi and freshman Phoebe Yue are both tied for 20th (+7, 151). Legaspi made three birdies in her first round on the 11th, 12th and 16th, adding three bogeys and a double for a 2-over 74. She had three bogeys and a double in round two (+5, 77).
Yue had one birdie in her first round, the 11th, to go with four bogeys in a 3-over 75. She closed her second round with back-to-back birdies on No. 17 and 18, adding six bogeys (+4, 76).
Sophomore Patty Tavatanakit is tied for 29th (+9, 153). She made an eagle in her opening round on the par-5 11th, adding a birdie on No. 17, four bogeys and a triple for a 4-over 76. In round two, Tavatanakit notched two birdies on No. 9 and 12 and seven bogeys for a 5-over 77.
Sophomore Vera Markevich (T-60, +16) has three holes left in her second round. She shot a 9-over 81 (seven bogeys, one double) in round one and is 7-over so far in round two.
The remaining players on the course for round two will resume their round at 7:10 a.m., which will be followed by the third and final round.
