Galdiano, Yue Tie for Third, UCLA Places Fourth at Bruin Wave Invitational

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Freshman Phoebe Yue posted the best finish of her career, a tie for third at the Bruin Wave Invitational, joining junior Mariel Galdiano in that same position on the leaderboard, as UCLA finished in fourth place as a team. The Bruins shot a 16-over 304 on Tuesday and finished at 39-over 903.
Yue's tie for third saw her close at 8-over 224 thanks to a final-round, 1-over 73. She battled back from a bogey-triple start to make six birdies on No. 5, 6, 9, 10, 12 and 17, adding three more bogeys in her final trip around San Luis Obispo Country Club.
Galdiano (+8, 224) posted a 3-over 75 on Tuesday, making her lone birdie on the fifth to go with four bogeys. Junior Clare Legaspi and senior Beth Wu tied for 18th (+12, 228). Legaspi shot a final-round, 5-over 77 on three birdies (No. 1, 5, 16), three bogeys, a double and a triple. Wu posted an 8-over 80 on six bogeys and a double. Sophomore Patty Tavatanakit tied for 39th (+16, 232), shooting a 7-over 79 with three birdies (No. 5, 6 and 14), eight bogeys and a double. Sophomore Vera Markevich, playing as an individual, finished in 66th (+25, 241). She recorded a 6-over 78 on Tuesday on two birdies (No. 10 and 16) and eight bogeys.
Next up for the Bruins is a trip to the east coast for the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate (March 8-10) at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
