BRUINS IN THE POLLS
The Bruins check in at second in all three national polls (NFCA/USA Softball/Softball America) this week. UCLA was selected first in the preseason Pac-12 Conference coaches poll.

GARCIA, FARAIMO EARN PAC-12 HONORS AGAIN
For the third time in as many weeks this season, redshirt junior Rachel Garcia was named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week, while for the second week in a row, Megan Faraimo picked up conference Freshman of the Week honors.

In two victories over ranked teams last week at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, Garcia struck out 19 in 13 innings, limiting opponents to six hits, two earned runs and three walks. On Friday (Feb. 22) versus No. 4 Oklahoma, she tied a season high with 15 strikeouts in a complete-game, four-hit win. Garcia allowed just one run and two walks, striking out the side in the second, sixth and seventh innings and two apiece in the third and fourth, adding 1-2-3 frames in the first and seventh. The next evening against No. 16 Kentucky (Feb. 23), the redshirt junior notched the win in relief, striking out four in six innings and giving up two hits, two runs (one earned) and one walk. Garcia had 1-2-3 innings in the second, fourth and fifth. On the season, Garcia is 6-0 with a 0.71 earned run average and 68 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings.

Faraimo also had two victories last weekend, including her second-career no-hitter after tossing her first just eight days earlier. Her first victory at the Mary Nutter came versus Missouri on Friday (Feb. 22), as she struck out nine in six innings of work, giving up three runs (one earned) and five hits. Faraimo had 1-2-3 innings in the first and second, three strikeouts in the second and two in the fifth. Two days later, the freshman tossed her second no-hitter and the 111th in UCLA history, striking out nine more in seven innings. Faraimo had four 1-2-3 innings in the second, third, fifth and sixth, striking out two in the first, third and fourth. She allowed only three baserunners on two Bruin errors and a hit by pitch. Faraimo is 4-0 on the season with a 0.83 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings.

Garcia's award is the 10th Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week accolade of her career. She won the honor four times last season and three times as a freshman in 2017. Faraimo's FOW award is the 16th for the Bruins since the award began in 2016.

NEWS AND NOTES
Freshman Megan Faraimo tossed her second no-hitter on Sunday against Colorado State. Along with it being the 111th in UCLA history, it marked the first time a Bruin had two no-hitters in the same since 2015 (Ally Carda) and the first UCLA freshman to do so since 2005 (Anjelica Selden) ... junior Bubba Nickles compiled a 24-game hitting streak before it came to an end versus Colorado State. During the streak, she hit .466 (34-for-73) with 10 home runs, 30 runs batted in and 27 runs scored ... in four of her five starts, redshirt junior Rachel Garcia has strikeout games of 13, 14, 15 and 15. The two 15-strikeout contests came against Hawaii (Feb. 8) and No. 4 Oklahoma (Feb. 22). She has given up just four earned runs in her 39 2/3 innings for a 0.71 earned run average ... redshirt sophomore Aaliyah Jordan is riding a 10-game hitting streak entering the Judi Garman Classic. She is batting .516 (16-for-31) during the stretch with two homers and 12 RBI ... sophomore Briana Perez has hits in 12 of 14 games and has reached base in 35 of 37 contests dating back to last season. Perez has nine multiple-hit games ... senior Brianna Tautalafua drove in the mercy-rule runs twice last weekend, driving in four, including the final two on a single, against Missouri, and the last two on a two-run bomb versus Kentucky ... sophomore Kinsley Washington has hits in 10 of her 13 starts, having scored a run in five games in a row ... sophomore Holly Azevedo is 4-0 on the season, bringing her career record to 19-0. She has at least five strikeouts in three of her four starts, tying a career high with seven against Fresno State (Feb. 7) ... senior Taylor Pack had hits and RBI in each of the last four games in Cathedral City and is batting .424 on the season ... in her last three starts, sophomore Julie Rodriguez has driven in runs in all of them, including an RBI double against Nebraska and a go-ahead, two-run single versus Kentucky on Feb. 23 ... freshman Kelli Godin stole three bases against Saint Mary's on Feb. 9. It is the first time a Bruin has swiped three bags in one game since 2014 (Allexis Bennett).

BRUINS VERSUS THE JUDI GARMAN FIELD
The Bruins trail the all-time series with Florida, 6-5, but won the matchup last season at the WCWS by a score of 6-5. The Gators are 4-2 in neutral-site contests ... the Bruins lead the series against Michigan, 11-10-1, winning the most recent meeting at this tournament in 2017 (4-0). The Wolverines are 7-5-1 in neutral-site contests ... UCLA will look to snap a three-game losing streak to Auburn, which has won all three matchups versus the Bruins. The last two meetings took place at the WCWS in 2015 and 2016 ... UCLA has won seven in a row and 26 of 27 over Loyola Marymount, including a 3-1 win at Easton Stadium on Feb. 17. The Bruins are 3-0 in neutral-site contests ... the only meeting between the Bruins and Connecticut took place at the 1993 WCWS, as UCLA won 3-0.
